Per Capita Wine Consumption Chart

From the cartography blog Strange Maps comes this Portuguese-language chart of per capita wine consumption around the world, shaped like a bundle of grapes. It was created by Brazilian graphic designer Alexandre Suannes. Luxembourg appears to be the largest consumer, with 5.91 liters per person. You can view a larger image at the link.

According to The Wine Institute (http://www.wineinstitute.org/files/PerCapitaWineConsumptionCountries.pdf) this graphic is way off in terms of liters consumed per capita, Luxembourg consumed 52.7 liters per capita in 2005. Even if this is just red wine the number still seems off. Fun fact, according to The Wine Institute, the Vatican consumes the most wine per capita with 62.2 liters per person annually.
