Whoever said using the Internet will make life any easier obviously didn't think about the social consequences of people's actions when they type the wrong thing to the wrong person. A good example of when things can go bad is when someone uses a social networking site such as Facebook to break up with their boyfriend.

So, let's open those ears and start learning a few do's and don'ts of Facebook usage.

re bumcakes - While you are right that there are many rude people in the world, it is true. Many people who fear confrontation use the anonymity and lack of physical presence of the internet to lash out and "flame" others in ways they never would in real life.

Articles like this always carry the implication that people are generally well-mannered and understand the intricacies of manners, but it's the technology which lets them down. This is seldom the case, and in those marginal cases, the behaviour can be chalked up to an accident. The fact remains. Most people do not use proper manners these days, and the people who are not couth by nature are not couth when sites like facebook are involved.
