Yummy 5 minute coffee cup cake

If it doesnt come out well, youre only out 5 minutes of time and a mug of ingredients.

I think I'll try it some time. Now I need a recipe to make a two minute chocolate frosting in a mug.

I have to say I have tried this and it really isn't any easier than whipping up a cake. And it is terribly rubbery....sorry.

I've made this and it's certainly not as good as normal cake, but it's good in a pinch if you have a chocolate craving!

I tried this recently, and it is indeed rubbery. My version came in at around 600 calories, but of course it tasted so yucky that I consumed maybe 50 of those calories. I want to try it in a tiny pan or ramekin so I can bake it in the oven and not have the microwavey texture.

An entire chocolate cake is pretty easy; it just takes longer to cook in an oven. The best way to make a cake is to say, "Kids, I'm going to take a nap. Why don't you make a cake for tonight?"

Hm. With some modifications to get around the rubberiness, that would make a cute little gift cake for someone.

I tried this a few months ago. It was gross! And no less time-consuming than making an actual cake.

Not bad. I cut down the calories by substituting plain applesauce in place of the oil. That saves ~350 calories.

I've tried this with a few modifications and it was GREAT!!!! Add a pinch of salt to the recipe. I also used chocolate chips and chopped walnuts. Be sure and spray the mug with no stick spray and cut the time down to 2 minutes. It wasn't rubbery and very tasty!! I've also exchanged the chocolate chips for peanut butter chips!!! My husband and grandkids love it!!! I think the cooking time is the answer to a really good cake!!!!

I hate to be mean, guys, but for those of you who haven't had good luck with the recipe... you do know different microwaves have different wattages, right? :) Deena's advice about the salt is very good, but you also really need to experiment with the cooking time, guys. That's all it takes. (A little baking soda or baking powder helps too.)
