4 year olds arguing poltics over the dinner table

Ha - this is pretty good. A four year old boy and girl argue Obama vs. Clinton over the dinner table. It is a little bit difficult to hear their voices in the beginning, but stick with it - they end up speaking much clearer by a minute or so in. Voices are raised, accusations are made. I wonder if any minds were changed? "I didn't vote for Bush! I wasn't even BORN!" [YouTube]

I could understand them with some effort. That is adorable! I love the "I wasn't even born yet!" quip, and the end where the girl's like "I'm sorry, that was low."

Yes of course this was scripted by their parents. Why does that make it less funny? I don't think they are even expressing their parents' opinions, as these are all typical things said.

Allow me to pile on: yes, this was pathetic, pandering, and an insult to the intelligence and sense of humor of anyone watching it. Just like the actual freaking election. But at least Gobama and Shrillary both have the presence of mind to not shove a couple pre-schoolers down our throats.

How about mommy and daddy leave the kiddys out of their political message?

My impression was that the parents' political message is actually commenting on the immaturity of political debate and reporting, not the the candidates, hence 4 year olds speaking.

I liked it, mainly because it reminded me of the boy and girl having coffee in Airplane. :)

I love the manic, desperate support for the Republican party that arises in comments on posts like these.

"I'm proudly embracing the party of greed, hate and failure because we've performed so well since Our Savior George W. Bush rode into town with his flight-suit and cod-piece."

Here's the thing. And it's not just this video, it's all video and even a lot of major movies. If you are going to have music, play it when people aren't talking or keep it so low in volume that it doesn't distort the words.

Simple.

I too thought it was going to be a real discussion! When my daughter was 4 (in 2000), she watched a lot of the election process with my son (who was 18 at the time and very into politics.) She wanted to stay up on election day to see who won but had to go to bed. Her reaction on hearing the news that Bush had won was to wail, "But Kerry won all three debates!"

This little scripted exchange, in contrast, is mildly amusing at best -- the old putting adult words in little mouths schtick.
