Robber Hypnotize Supermarket Clerks Into Handing Over Cash

Italian police is looking for this man, who robbed supermarkets by hypnotizing the checkout staff into giving him money:

He waited until he got to a female bank clerk and, according to the video footage, appears to hypnotise her into handing over more than £600.

He then calmly walked out.

The cashier who was shown the video footage reportedly has no memory of the incident. She only realised what had happened when she saw the
money missing.

Now, let's see if I can hypnotize you into leaving comments ... Look into my, um, blog?

Reminds me of the British Bloke Darren Brown, a 'mentalist', who somehow persuades people to do things like give him money or valuable items. He's videotaped himself doing exactly this to people in shops and he's a huge success.

Yes that Darren Brown guy is fascinating.. He cuts BLANK printer paper in the size of U.S. Notes and buys things Worth 100's of dollars and it isn't until he's gone that the cashier snaps out of looks at the paper and is Genuinely shocked.. I dont mean like Chris Angel stand ins, I mean normal folks just blown away. I have no idea how he does it.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, with the wild supposition that the Daily Mail might be sensationalizing and even possibly exaggerating this story (hard to believe, I know). I don't know what kind of funny business is going on here, but outside the world of television and stage hypnotists, such powers do not exist. It is the social setting and expectations that encourage people to 'act out' being hypnotized on stage, but the notion of being instantly hypnotized against one's will at a supermarket is purely fanciful, even for a charismatic Saddam impersonator. Occam's razor would be appropriate here: I'd look first to bumbling and overly-imaginative detectives, store clerks in collusion, mass-delusion, etc.

Gypsies did this same thing to my grandmother in law. They got her to open the door to her apartment, then they hypnotized her and stole all her valuables. They are horrible soulless people that exploit their children and cheat the government and take advantage of anyone they can. Be very careful while traveling in Europe and Asia

I would expect something like this to take place in a smaller, 2nd/3rd world society where generations of substandard education or total lack thereof bring superstitions to reality, but Italy? Apparently I took the wrong impression away after my visit there.

Inside job.

ok i'm a normal guy with an education and i live in a small sleepy town in the uk. but i swear to god this nearly happened to me when i was younger.

i was working in a certain large chain video store part time while at college and an indian ( asian for you U.S readers ) guy came in and proceeded to do a magic trick on me. It went something like this, he told me to hold my thumb down on my palm and then think of a flower i said rose and when i lifted my thumb the word rose was written underneath my thumb.

it made me feel really woozy and weird and disconnected he then started asking me to give him money from the till but i felt myself snap out of it, he made his excuses and left. only after did i catch on that i was nearly hypnotized and he really expected me to go and empty the till.

its is honest to god one of the strangest things that has ever happened to me, the thought that i could nearly be hypnotized so easily and quickly was quite frightening
