Trivia: The (Truncated) Sound of Music in South Korea

When the Sound of Music was released in South Korea, it was so popular that one theater owner sought to maximize his profit by showing it more often. His solution was to shorten the movie by cutting out all of the songs!

Oh no, that hurts my soul! The Sound of Music songs are so delightful! Heh, actually, I got dragged to a 'Sing-Along Sound of Music' event at a theater once, kicking and griping the whole way, but I don't think they even finished the first number before I was belting out those tunes with relish right along with everyone else - they're just that uplifting and irresistible!

Now that I think about it, though, how long WOULD TSoM be without the songs? Would it even make it to 30 minutes? 45? Surely those movie-goers must have known they'd been had?
