The Secret To Happiness Is Working At Starbucks (?)

Michael Gill lost his six-figure job, had an affair, got divorced, was diagnosed with a brain tumor . . . and landed a barista job at Starbucks, and found inner peace? I'm a bit skeptical, but Tom Hanks bought the movie rights. Here's the book:
How Starbucks Saved My Life: A Son of Privilege Learns to Live Like Everyone Else. Here's the New York Times.

I HATED STARBUCKS! I am so glad I left recently. Customers are horribly mindless and annouying.
The whole trick to starbucks is that you have control, becuase its for people who dont feel in control of thier lives.

At one point in my life from a IT consultant position, I had to take a job for a couple of years as an assistant manager at a Walgreen's drugstore.

Best human experience ever.

Hard working environment, basic pay, but I learned that a lot (most?) people without long studies and diplomas and such are way more interesting than your typical soulless manager. Maybe less intellectually gifted, but much more humanly close to you. This makes a difference. Everyday.
And I'll prefer 100 cranky customers to 1 cranky CEO.

I didn't stay at Walgreen's because I found my way back in the corporate world ($ of course...), but everytime I shop there I feel at home.

I've heard that Starbucks has great benefits. I'm not sure about the job giving you inner peace, though. Trying to remember everybody's order and then getting snapped at if you get it wrong doesn't sound very peaceful.
