Sonic Fabric: Textile Woven From Audio Cassette Tape.

Sonic Fabric is a textile woven from recycled audio cassette tape. Interestingly, if you run a tape head over it, the fabric emits sound because it retains its magnetic quality.

Sonic Fabric is an interesting concept of usuing unrelated materials to construct a wearable fabric. There are many other possibilities that lie in other non-traditional materials for creating new custom fabrics that could be used for automotive headliners, awnings, and other items that use tough durable fabrics.

While true that it is Jon Fishman's dress, it was made for him by Alyce Santoro (whose site you linked to).

This is Jon Fishman's dress (drummer from Phish). He played it on stage on 04/16/04 Thomas & Mack Center in Vegas and it was made from tapes from his own collection.

What else are you going to do with them? I threw out about a thousand of them last year. Maybe the salvage bum got them, I don't know. If he did, he's in for some weird music, I tell you whut.
