Eyedia has a collection of painted homeless cardboard houses that people actually live inside, in the Shinjuku subway station, Japan (which unfortunately were burned down in 1998): Link |

The art was very interesting, the stench was unbearable. The view of homeless people defecating outside the entrance to those box houses on your way to work.........was priceless. I was personally happy when they were moved out. And by the way, they moved them into brand new homeless apartments, with running water and bathrooms.
