High Dynamic Range Photography.

HDR or High Dynamic Range [wiki] imaging is a digital graphics technique where multiple exposures are "blended" together to yield an image with a high dynamic range or large difference between light and dark areas.

The HDR Pool at flickr is a good place to start appreciating the vibrant colors that the HDR technique yield. This one above is titled Before Sunset @ Voss, from flickr use Amundn's photostream.
