Joanneke Meester's Skin Gun.

In 2004, Dutch artist Joanneke Meester had an 8-inch-long piece of her skin surgically removed so she can use it to cover a gun-shaped plastic and fiber mold. Voilà - a skin gun.

That's just so weird! Keeping a dead skin tissue just to be a gun? Eeek. At first, I thought it was a pizza-baked gun, but then, it turns out to be someone's skin... hmm... odd!

I think the woman had a midlife crisis and said to herself, "Hey, I'm going to make a gun, out of my skin!!! YAY!!! I'M SO SMART!!!" And then she looks at herself in the mirror for places where she can remove her skin and say, "Joanneke, you are a genius!!!" And off she went to the doctors and the doctor probably told her, "WOW! THAT'S THE SMARTEST THING ANYONE EVER SAID ABOUT ANYTHING!"

This is very Joel-Peter Witkin. He is the 'artist' who uses real cadavers to create still life. Very still ife that is!!!! Go ahead check out his stuff here:

We could set up a factory somewhere in the 3rd world and start mass producing these things! I bet people would pay like $500 for one of these. It would help solve unemployment and overpopulation.

Please tell me that she is not wasting publicly funded dollars on this garbage. My taxes pay for crap like this? I like my art free, and my artists starving...If you had real talent, you be painting something.

Does it shoot blood? now that would be cool otherwise it's just some sorry ass attempt for someone with no talent to play at being an artist. Come on all you modern art folks are a bit heavy with the pretense and yeah you have some secret deep meaningful reason for making that but it's just gross and useless arts and crafts crap. I'm all about joel peter whitkins but that's due to his skill at setting a mood and creating things that shock our baseline of reality. This on the other hand isn't art...It doesn't even look well made. Imo art =beauty, skill, mood or emotional content this lacks all of those. Go back to needlepoint.

The saddest part is - while an artist making great sacrifices for good art can be powerfuly moving and life changing for the people who get it, this really isn't even good art.

What is she saying? Guns are bad because... uh... there's nothing clever here at all to work with.

She is getting attention though. Maybe that's the point.

I dont understand what it's supposed to symbolise. Maybe something to do with guns being evil or something i dont know.

Weird Though!

I wish someone made an eyeball gun that would be sick!

circumsizedcatholic! you are in idiot! Jewish people don't get circumsized you moron, that was the joke! I am very much annoyed with your ignorance on the situation when you have the audacity to call someone else an idiot!

furf: no doubt, what possesses someone to do such a thing? If it is to gain your attention with dis-belief, I understand completely - since it is going into my collection of all things not right.
