These Costume Redesigns For Batman And Wonder Woman Are Super

The iconic pantheon of superheroes who form the Holy Trinity of the DC Universe suffer from an identity issue they've never been able to outgrow- their equally iconic costumes.

If Batman doesn't have his cape or pointy-eared cowl, if Supes doesn't have a cape or an S on his chest, and if Wonder Woman is caught without either her bracers, tiara or lasso these heroes somehow lose their power.

Artists have tried to come up with new outfits to make them look more like normal folks, but they're not normal- they're super, so any wardrobe change should really reflect that.

That's why two of the three redesigns created by Stephen Byrne work so well- Batman becomes a bit more of an agent or contractor but still retains his batty spirit and still looks intimidating.

And Wonder Woman looks like an urban adventurer ready for action, still regal, still a warrior but less of a princess.

Supes in jeans and a t-shirt, on the other hand, just doesn't do it for me.

Italian Grocery Store Introduces Dog Friendly Shopping Carts

(Image Link)

It's a bummer dogs can't go grocery shopping with us because they'd be great at picking out snacks, although they'd probably force us to buy a cartload of both real and squeaky steaks so maybe we're better off.

But if and/or when grocery stores allow dogs to come along they'll ride comfortably in a cool dog friendly shopping cart, like this one introduced by Gianfranco Galantini in his grocery store Unes.

Now Gianfranco should consider dedicating one entire aisle to Snausages and other dog treats, so his new fleet of furry shoppers can spend their human's hard earned cash.

Ten Unexpected Duties Performed By Secret Service Agents

Until recently many people assumed the Secret Service did nothing more than guard the President and his family while wearing a stony expression and talking into their sleeve.

But then we discovered how much Secret Service agents like to get drunk and carouse with prostitutes, which led us to wonder "why do they have so much steam to blow off?"

(Image Link)

Secret Service agents have to do pretty much anything the Prez tells them to do, like carry all of Jimmy Carter's luggage or shield Lyndon B. Johnson while he pees outside (and on the guy's leg), so that's a start.

When mistresses and wives needed to be kept separate the Secret Service goes to work, and when George W. Bush's underage daughters wanted to go out drinking agents are there to keep them out of jail.

Unable to relax, much less party, because you're too busy protecting the POTUS family while they get their ya-ya's out? Now that's a valid excuse for passing out in a hotel hallway in Holland or getting crazy in Cartagena!

North Korea Channels The Voice Of Abraham Lincoln In Letter To Obama

When Supreme Leader Kim-Jong Un orders the North Korean state media to send President Obama a message we expect blustering, bluffing, and lots of nuclear weapon-related threats.

But apparently the state media has mastered the practice of mediumship, channeling the voice of dead president Abraham Lincoln in a strange letter published on DPRK Today website entitled "Advice From Lincoln To Obama".

The message begins “Hey, Obama, I know you have a lot on your mind these days … I’ve decided to give you a little advice after seeing you lost in thought before my portrait during a recent Easter Prayer Breakfast.”

(Image Link)

Their (Abe's?) "advice" is related to Obama's efforts to rid the world of nuclear weapons, stating that it's "a mockery to the entire world" for the U.S. to keep their arsenal and make other countries get rid of theirs.

"Abe" goes on to praise Obama while criticizing "himself":

“Hey, Obama, it’s the 21st Century,” the letter says. “The tactic by past American presidents, including me, who deceived the people … is outdated. That doesn’t work now. The world doesn’t trust an America that doesn’t take responsibility for what it says.”

This unsolicited advice comes a few years after the state media called Obama a "monkey" and Senator John Kerry a "wolf with a hideous lantern jaw", so something tells me the Ghost of Abe Lincoln had nothing to do with this letter...

The World's Finest Superheroes Meet For The First Time In This Fan Film

The film Batman V Superman is supposed to be a sequel to the 2012 film Man Of Steel, but many fans believe BvS has too much Batfleck in it to qualify as a proper sequel.

They want to see a fresh faced Batman in the film, meeting Supes at the onset of their superhero careers and trying to assess whether the alien is a threat to humanity.

So the superfolks at YMMPodcasts took it upon themselves to create World's Finest, a Man of Steel conceptual short made for fans by fans.

Think Your Cat Is Lazy? Look At All The Jobs They Do For You!

The feline pet population has it way too easy- they're asked to do nothing more than catch mice, eat on the floor, poop in a box and allow humans to dote on them, which is why all the working dogs are so jealous.

But this video by Sho Ko seems to indicate that our cats are actually overworked, and with all they do in a day it's a wonder they have time to squeeze in sixteen hours of sleep!

George R. R. Martin Discusses The Real History Behind Game Of Thrones

Game of Thrones, and the book series that inspired the show A Song Of Ice And Fire, clearly take place in a fictional world of fantasy, since there are White Walkers, giants, fire breathing dragons and such.

We know The Wars Of The Roses, which took place in England during the 15th century. sits at the top of the list of influences, but who, what and when else inspired Martin's epic series?

Ten Unconventional Coming-Of-Age Movies You Should Check Out

Coming-of-age movies are supposed to have relatable characters that make us compare what they're going through in the film to our own lives, but that rarely happens when you're a weirdo.

Growing up as one of the odd ducks in the pond made me relate more to movies like Harold and Maude, Time Bandits and Quadrophenia than the traditional Hollywood fare, so Submarine by Ben Stiller and Richard Ayoade was right up my alley.

(YouTube Link)

Stand By Me is a classic coming-of-age movie and should definitely stay in the rotation for life, but back in 2012 Wes Anderson gave us a new addition that appeals to the offbeat- Moonrise Kingdom.

And lastly, if you're looking for comedy, poignancy and a slice of blue collar life set in North London then you've gotta check out Mike Leigh's fantastic funky family film from 1991 called Life Is Sweet.

Depression level sadness makes people feel small and critter-like, as they wallow in a sea of dark thoughts and dour moods with warm blanket to crawl under and music that matches thier mood.

But this is obviously not a good way to handle a visit from the Boohoo Blues, so those who have learned to live and love the depressed find ways to lighten their mood that don't involve hugging.

Those who want to help the depressed, and anyone looking for a cure to sadness, should check out this comic by YMB/Yasmin F and see how ten easy steps can make even the most gloomy person crack a smile!

Where Did The Expression "Elvis Has Left The Building" Originate?

(Image Link)

The expression “Elvis has left the building” has been used as a comedic and colloquial way to say “the show's over”, “get out while the gettin's good”, “you don't have to go home but you can't stay here”, etc.

Our aunts and uncles say it, our grandparents said it before it was cool, and little kids say it even though they don't have a clue who Elvis Presley is, but where did this fun expression come from?

Simon Whistler of Today I Found Out explores the origin of this saying that's more popular than Presley in this fun factoid video, getting to the bottom of this mystery with a little help from our friend Eddie Deezen.

The Most Brutal Fights Between Superfolks

Superheroes and supervillains fight because that's what they were drawn to do, but when two heroes go at it there's usually some underlying reason involving truth, justice and the goody two-shoes way.

The superhero flick Batman V Superman has brought up the sore subject of superhero-on-superhero violence, which will continue when Cap and Iron Man go head-to-head in Captain America: Civil War.

But believe it or not both Batman and Superman have been involved in far more brutal fights, with Bane and Doomsday respectively, which makes sense since heroes show restraint when fighting their fellow do-gooders.

Bane broke Batman's spine in the Knightfall story arc, which led to a lengthy recovery and Azrael taking over for Bruce as the Batman Family rallied behind their fallen leader.

Superman was "killed" by the mighty alien Doomsday in The Death Of Superman story arc, which kept Supes out of his spandex supersuit for three long years and led to a reboot of the beloved character.

Can The Powder inside An Etch-A-Sketch Be Used To Make Thermite?

We all know the Etch-A-Sketch as a toy we got as a kid and thought was pretty cool for a few days before it ended up at the bottom of the toybox.

But I bet kids would see the Etch-A-Sketch as a whole lot cooler if they thought they could make a fiery pyrotechnic composition called Thermite out of the sketchy powder.

This rumor has been circulating around the internet for years, so “The King Of Random” Grant Thompson teamed up with Dan and Lincoln from What's Inside? to test the theory.

Why Solitaire, Minesweeper, FreeCell And Hearts Were Added To Windows

We've been wasting time playing Solitaire, Minesweeper, Hearts and FreeCell on our Windows PCs for decades, never knowing that those simple and addictive little games were secretly included to teach us stuff.

Solitaire was installed in Windows 3.0 back in 1990 to teach mouse-fluency with its simple click, drag and drop mechanic, and Minesweeper was put in to turn users into the ultimate code breaking machines.

Just kidding, it's meant to help users develop faster and more precise mouse movements and to make them comfortable with left and right button clicking. Beginning to see a pattern here?

Hearts was meant to get users comfortable with the idea of a local network and get people interested in Windows 3.1's networking capabilities.

And finally there's FreeCell, the game that wasn't meant to teach users anything- it was installed to test a data processing subsystem called a “thunking layer” which allowed 16-bit versions of Windows 3.1 to run 32-bit applications.

FreeCell and the other games would have been left out of subsequent versions of Windows if users didn't like them so much, but every time Microsoft leaves them out they get complaints.

Guy Takes Fake Book Covers On The Subway And Freaks Out Fellow Riders

Most people play it cool and try to pretend like they're minding their own business while riding the subway, but in truth we're all furtively watching what others are up to while we ride.

Knowing that eyes will be upon you means pretty much any prank will be easy to pull off, so subway pranksters like Scott Rogowsky always come prepared.

In this instance Scott started rode the subway armed with fake books like "Mein Kampf for kids!", "How To Hold A Fart In" and "Slut-Shaming Your Baby", just a little light reading for the afternoon commute.

Scott's hilarious book covers raised many eyebrows on the train, but people didn't want to admit to being nosy so they just smiled and shifted around uncomfortably in their seats. (Video contains NSFW content)
