The 10 Deadliest Gunslingers In The Old West

During the Old West era railroads helped connect the entire country, some of the biggest cities in America were built, and America set its sights on becoming a coast-to-coast nation.

But the most famous figures of the era are still the gunslingers, the guys (and a few gals) who liked to settle their disputes with six guns rather than stern words.

Gunslingers such as Jesse James, Billy the Kid, and "Wild Bill" Hickok came to represent the Wild in the Wild West, capturing the imagination of people who lived in the civilized world back east.

And yet many of the deadliest shootists from the Old West were overshadowed by the more famous names mentioned above, despite the massive body counts they had under their belt.

John Wesley Hardin is said to be "the worst bad man that Texas ever produced", who claimed to have killed 42 men and committed his first murder when he was just 15 years old.

Hardin was so quick tempered he supposedly shot a man for snoring.

"Killin' Jim" Miller is another deadly shootist time forgot, and despite being a bit of a dandy he is thought to have gunned down close to 50 men in cold blood.

Jim's life of crime began when he blew away his sister's husband with a shotgun after a disagreement, and was known to tell folks he would kill anyone for money, including politicians, marshals and Sheriff Pat Garrett himself.

Iconic Video Game Characters Reimagined On Pulp Novel Covers

Iconic video game characters are now an integral part of pop culture, and even non-gamers can identify some of them by their name and their distinct look.

Which is why they make such great crossover characters, and with a little tweaking they can become the stars of a mainstream rom-com, advertising mascots or the main characters in a series of pulp novels.

Illustrator Astor Alexander has captured our geeky imaginations with his cover art for pulp novels starring a hard-bitten Mario ready to plug Peach's captors and Geralt of Rivia- private eye.

Men rarely spare much thought on their underwear, and some gross guys can't even be bothered to change their chonies on a regular basis.

So it's safe to assume most guys don't have a clue about how far their underwear has come over the last 100 years, or how fabulous those form fitting boxer briefs actually are.

Comic Strips With Surprise Endings You Won't See Coming

Comic strips have a very short amount of time in which to tell a tale or deliver a setup and a punchline, so they're usually pretty straightforward in terms of pacing.

But good comic artists have lots of tricks in their pencil bags which they can pull out at any time in order to poke the reader in the eye, just to make sure they're still paying attention.

And when you've read as many predictable, formulaic and just plain boring comics as I have you learn to appreciate a surprise ending, whether it's happy, sad or WTF inducing.

The Most Canadian Superheroes Of All Time

(Image Link)

Wolverine may be the most well-known Canadian superhero of all time, but quite a few memorable characters have come from the Great White North including the team Alpha Flight and Deadpool.

(Image Link)

But more importantly Canada is the real world home of fictional characters who represent important firsts in the world of comic books, starting with Nelvana Of The Northern Lights.

She's Canada's first superhero and one of the first female superheroes to appear in the comics, predating Wonder Woman by a few months, and she's the first (and one of the only) Inuit superhero.

As someone who loved reading Canada's answer to The Avengers as a kid I must say superhero squads don't come much more colorful or charming than Alpha Flight.

They're one of the motliest crews who ever assembled to fight villainy, with a hairy hulk named Sasquatch, a dwarf acrobat named Puck and the first openly gay Marvel superhero Northstar, Alpha Flight kept Canada strange.

Documentary Series About Guys Who Like To Dress Up Like Dogs

Some people are no longer content with simply being strange humans, so they look for ways to take their strangeness to whole new levels and shed their human skin in favor of something stranger, like a dog suit.

For some this is a fetish, for others simply a way to deal with the fact that they feel uncomfortable in their own skin, and I imagine a few dress up like dogs just for the fun of it.

Secret Life Of The Human Pups recently aired on the UK's Channel 4, exposing viewers to this bizarre subculture with roughly 10,000 "secret pups" in the UK alone. It's a dog's life indeed!

Jimmy Fallon & Paul Rudd Perfectly Recreate Styx Music Video

Jimmy Fallon has never claimed to be a comedic genius, but there's one comedy arena in which his skills really shine- the funny song.

He's pretty good at playing guitar and really good at doing impressions of famous singers, so funny songs are naturally his forte.

And when he teams up with Paul Rudd, an actor who's good at acting like he plays guitar and equally good at acting like a person in a band, you've got the perfect ingredients for a funky Styx music video recreation.

The Fallon/Rudd version is so close to the original it's hard to decide which one's better...just kidding, Paul Rudd wins every time!

Dad Trolls His Daughter By Recreating Her Selfies

Parents may not understand their child's selfie obsession, they may not get why their kid stares at that screen all day or why they feel the need to post pics of themselves on a daily basis.

But one thing parents do "get"- how to make fun of their teens for posting stupid pictures of themselves online, just to keep the kid's swollen head from eclipsing the sun.

Proud father Burr Martin wasn't afraid to poke some fun at his daughter Cassie's selfie obsession by recreating her pics with dear old dad as the subject, but he may have gone too far.

Not because young Cassie disliked his take on her pics, because that was the point, but because Burr appears to have become a bit selfie obsessed himself!

You know what Nietzche said about "He who fights with monsters" Burr...

Strange Early Prototypes Of Stan Lee's Iconic Characters

Stan Lee is the undisputed mastermind of the comic book world, a man who brought so many iconic Marvel superheroes to life that his smilin' face has come to represent the company.

But his beautiful mind often worked in weird ways, and before many of his iconic characters could really take shape they had to go through a rough sketchy stage.

Complex characters like Magneto and the X-Men started out as simple characters with simple goals- the early Magneto was an alien being called the Metal Master who wanted to rule Earth but got clobbered by the Hulk instead.

The early X-Men were a mutant cult of sorts who lived in Tibet and used mental projection to contact a young mutant named Tad Carter, offering to protect him because "humans fear what they don't understand."

And if you think Tad looks a lot like Peter Parker your spidey sense is tingling true, because both characters were drawn by Steve Ditko, who obviously liked the look of the character so he passed it on to Peter.

The Glory Days Of Gaming

Being a gamer used to be a badge of glory earned with cold sweat, frustrated tears, hundreds of hours of play time and the occasional call to a tip line when you were tired of being stuck on a level.

But nowadays players have it easy, since games practically hold their hands while easing them through the tutorial, introduce them nicely to the game's lore and share all its secrets via strategy guides.

But veterans gamers like the GaMERCaT Samantha Whitten remember the good old days of gaming fondly, before our pets started hogging the machine...

Eerie Conspiracy Theories Which Are Actually True

Conspiracy theories usually sound so insane only a fool would actually believe in them, and while they make good subject matter for movies and TV shows they're not normally taken seriously in real life.

Theories state pharmaceutical co.s are making people sick for profit and the U.S. government stole dead babies so they could conduct experiments on them, which sound like plots for episodes of a sci-fi themed TV show.

But, like many urban myths, there's a kernel of truth hidden in these theories, and the facts are sometimes more out there than the fiction.

Big Pharma has been blamed for causing addiction to opioids and selling cut-rate drugs to poor people, but it turns out one rumor was true- Bayer's blood clotting drug made it easier to transmit HIV, and they knowingly sold the tainted drug just to make a profit.

Instead of destroying the drug after discovering this HIV transmission problem they sold it to Latin American and Asian countries, causing at least 100 people in Hong Kong and Taiwan to contract AIDS.

And as for the U.S. government stealing babies- it was all because of one Dr. Willard Libby, who wanted to study "the absorption of strontium-90 in human tissue, primarily bone".

Dr. Libby decided dead bodies would make the perfect test subjects, since the living don't like it when their bones are removed during testing, so around 1955 he initiated a dead baby collection program dubbed Project Sunshine.

From around 1957 to 1978 tests were conducted in secret on recently deceased babies sent to labs in the UK and US, and yet Dr. Libby won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1960.

The Reason Why You Can't Photocopy Paper Currency

People always wonder about whether defacing, copying or destroying money is against the law, questions like- How against the law is it? or Why can't I make some fake money with a photocopier for my movie?

These questions are on the tip of our tongues when currency laws come up in conversation, but people aren't asking the one question we're all curious about- what mysterious force stops us from photocopying money?

You may have heard about the Eurion constellation effect on older bills, but today's bills have a new defense system built in which makes it virtually impossible to copy- the Counterfeit Deterrence System.

This interesting video by Wendover Productions explores the mysterious Counterfeit Deterrence System which stops photocopiers and image editing software like Photoshop from printing phony bills. So much for my retirement plan!

Kris Jenner Sells Fancy Paper Clip Necklace Via Twitter, Staples Canada Strikes Back

(Image Link)

Kris Jenner hasn't made many fans over the years, and people are rightfully still blaming her for the Kardashian sisters' rise to fame because she's clearly their self obsession role model.

So it's probably not a surprise to anyone on the planet that Kris would do something greedy like sell crappy jewelry at a high markup via her Twitter account.

What is surprising, however, is the fact that Kris failed to mention how much her "jewelry" looks like a paper clip necklace Kim K. made for her mommy in a high school jewelry making class.

Of course, the Twitter community couldn't help but notice the similarity, and their responses were priceless.

But one corporate account won the Best Burn award for their crafty yet sassy response- Staples Canada.
