Hauntingly Beautiful Driftwood Sculptures By Nagato Iwasaki

Pieces of driftwood are like nature's nomads, traveling far from their roots and going where the streams and rivers take them like no trees ever could.

These well traveled scraps of wood are shaped by their journey, twisted and gnarled until they become earthen works of art shaped by the hands of Mother Nature.

Sadly, most driftwood is used to build fires or as garden fill when collected, but Japanese artist Nagato Iwasaki has found a better use for those beautiful bits of wood- he uses them as a sculptural medium.

Nagato's humanoid figures are naturally gorgeous, and realistic enough to give you a hauntingly eerie feeling of familiarity when you gaze at their faceless forms, like someone you used to know but let slip away long ago.

It's All In The Wrists

There are many little details of Mario's character design that seem like they were included just to give him the look of a lead character, and we're probably better off leaving our questions about his details at that.

Because, as this Fake Webcomic reveals, the less we know about what lies under Mario's clothes the better!

Cuba's Flying Pizzas

Ever since the Cuban government expanded private enterprise in 2010 and legalized small and medium-sized businesses in 2016, people all over Cuba have been coming up with clever ways to make a buck.

Since most of these businesses involve creating and/or selling wares out of an individual's home budding entrepreneurs have to come up with creative ways to deliver products to their customers.

At A Mi Manera pizzeria creative delivery involves "flying pizzas", because owner Marta Castaeda cooks the pizzas on the roof of her apartment building and sends them "flying" down on a rope.

Glow-In-The-Dark Street Art Murals Come Alive At Night

Street art adds a vibrant, and sometimes interactive, element to an otherwise grey concrete city, and this artistic splash of color and life is enjoyed by all who lay eyes on the piece.

But imagine the viewer's surprise when they discover that piece on the wall transforms at night when a secret glow-in-the-dark element is revealed.

Barcelona-based Reskate studio paints mysterious street art pieces on walls all over Europe, and people who walk by the seemingly simple artwork during the day are treated to a neat surprise after dark.

The painstaking process requires the artists from Reskate Studio to add the photoluminescent paint details to the simple silhouette during the day, forcing them to wait until after dark to see how it all turned out.

Tom Cruise Falling Into Other Movies

Tom Cruise's career has been falling very, very slowly since the 80s, with a few updrafts here and there during his otherwise perpetual descent from superstardom.

But what's causing this fall? A string of bad roles? His connection to Scientology? That one time he went crazy and jumped on Oprah's couch?

Maybe Tom should just embrace the fall and work a "falling Tom Cruise" cameo into every movie that comes out!

How To Make People Think You Have A Girlfriend On Valentine's Day

Valentine's day is coming, and social media is about to get flooded by couples oversharing their "cute" pics and rubbing their romance in the faces of their single friends...wait, that came out wrong.

But you know what I mean- it can be annoying to see all that "love in the air" crap when you're single, which is why parties of one just need to turn themselves into a couple with these photo tips by Rain Yokohama.

Rain's methods for making it look like he has an actual girlfriend sitting next to him are very silly but they work, and the pics are so convincing people will actually believe you're no longer single!

KISS Is Now Selling Air Guitar Strings

KISS, or more specifically Gene Simmons on behalf of KISS, has been working hard to create as many types of KISS themed merchandise as possible, cashing in on everything from condoms to Kaskets.

But one of their latest releases seems too dumb to be true- KISS air guitar strings. It's a bag of air with a KISS header card on top, created for all those KISS air guitarists out there who keep breaking their strings.

If you think this $3.99 bag of air is taking KISS merchandising too far you're not alone, because Gene's son Nick seems to think this is a ridiculous idea too:

Photo Series Featuring Drag Performers Before And After Makeup

Drag performers aren't just men or women dressed up to look like the opposite sex- they're actors who create (often zany) characters and try to perfectly embody the role in every way.

That's why many drag performers are unrecognizable without their wigs or their makeup, because the people behind the flamboyant personas are often more reserved than their stage show would suggest.

Australian photographer Aaron Walker photographs drag performers before and after their dramatic transformation in his aptly titled series "Dragformation":

It’s the transformation process that is interesting to me, rather than the final look. It’s the amount of time and the attention to detail, from walking off the street and into the dressing room, to walking on stage. That’s a three-hour period of hair and makeup. …It’s really interesting. With most of the drag artists that sit for me, their before shots are slightly awkward—it’s a slightly uncomfortable process for them. But once they’ve transformed into their drag persona, they’re very confident and know exactly how to model for the camera.

Meet The Monkey Mom Of Illinois

For some reason animal lovers still think having a monkey as a pet is a novel idea, but nine times out of ten the shit hits the fan soon after they bring their pet monkey home and they realize they've made a terrible mistake.

And once those people have learned their lesson a poor little monkey is left without a home- unless they're lucky enough to land in the arms of Airocolina 'Pinky' Janota, aka the Monkey Mom.

Airocolina runs a primate sanctuary in Beecher, Illinois, where she currently serves as 'alpha monkey mom' for six orphans- two Marmosets, one Bonnet Macaque and three Rhesus Macaques.

All of the monkeys Pinky takes in at the Settlers Pond Shelter were abandoned by their owners in the United States, but in Pinky's care they're living the high life, with dapper duds to wear and all the finger food they can eat.

Brilliant Fan Art Inspired By Rogue One

(Art by Derek Laufman)

Rogue One has captured the hearts of old school Star Wars fans and new fans alike because it's just that awesome, and when artists are inspired by a movie they show their love with illustrative lines.

(Art by Shane Molina)

Some were happy about the return of the Sith we love to hate, who hasn't changed a bit since the 80s, while other artists got a kick out of that sassy reprogrammed Imperial droid K-2SO:

But after all the arguments are said and done the best thing about Rogue One is the fact that it gave us that good old fashioned Star Wars movie feeling again!

Historic Best In Show Winners From Westminsters Past

Each year a carefully selected pack of canine contestants strut their stuff for the judges at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, where they represent their breed and try to prove they're the Best In Show.

This year the competition will be even hairier, since three new breeds have entered the battle- the Pumi, the American hairless terrier and the Sloughi, all very interesting dogs indeed.

But enough about the now, let's look back at Westminsters past with Miss C's article 12 Historic Westminster Best In Show Winners and see who won about 100 years ago.

His name is Haymarket Flawless, and he won Best In Show in 1918. Hay was both the first Bull Terrier and the first Canadian dog to win, and he definitely could have been the Spuds McKenzie of his day.

And speaking of dogs with star power, get a load of 1957's winner- Shirkhan Of Grandeur.

Shirkhan was the first Afghan hound to win Westminster, and he was so gorgeous and elegant looking TIME Magazine felt compelled to bow down:

The others walked or trotted, ran or cantered like dogs. Shirkhan moved like a king."

But you don't have to be doggy royalty to win Westminster, just ask Tickle Em Jock.

Scrappy little Tickle Em Jock was purchased from a London butcher for $15, and he became the first Scottish terrier to win Best In Show in 1911.

However, Jock obviously had a hard time putting his rough and tumble past behind him- because he bit a judge at another show later that year after winning Best in Breed. Tickle 'em indeed!

Artist Creates LEGO Fissures By Tearing Holes In The Walls

If you're going to tear a hole in the wall of a home to use as the base for an art project then you'd better be sure that art project is simply smashing to look at and worth all the destruction.

So when Miami-based club owner Dave Grutman asked artist Dante Dentoni to create a bricking awesome LEGO sculpture in his home Dante tore up the walls without hesitation- because he had a grand plan in mind.

It turns out tearing holes in walls then filling those holes with LEGOs is one of Dante's artistic fortes, only this time he has outdone himself by taking his LEGO fissure across two walls and the ceiling.

Horrifying Fast Food "Hacks" Tested

Fast food chains serve up familiar food that rarely changes much, and when people get bored of eating the same old menu items they hack the menu- and share their creations on the internet.

This is exactly what the internet community wants and needs, so they encourage people to play Dr. Foodenstein and create new monster hacks- and the world of fast food is a scarier place because of it.

Sickening creations like the Saucy Buns from McDonald's (practically every sauce available on a bun) and the Protein Shake from Dunkin Donuts (bacon, eggs, coffee, sausage and cheese blended into a smoothie) are hacks gone wrong.

So who could possibly bring themselves to devour these monstrosities?

Brave Ben Wyman from Cracked put his stomach on the line for the sake of research, and he was so gung-ho about his terror-filled taste testing he actually created his own monster meal- the Tac-Urr-Acho-Dilla Grande Supreme.

This horrifying Taco Bell hybrid is a taco, nachos and a burrito stuffed inside a quesadilla, and Ben had to fight to bring it to life:

The staff were upset that I had predicted their next meal, and were insistent that they couldn't stuff a taco, nachos, and burrito into a quesadilla, citing small-minded concerns like "the tortilla isn't large enough" and "it would be an affront to the very concept of civilization." But I wasn't about to let them stand in the way of progress, and eventually they relented.

Disney's Biggest Flops And Their Most Underrated Movies

Disney used to be the undisputed masters of the animated feature, and they made some mighty fine live action films too, so when Disney movies started to flop in the theater people noticed.

Nowadays Disney's track record at the box office (not including Pixar or Marvel movies) is about fifty-fifty, which is pretty low compared to their classic days.

Movies like Mr. Magoo, Home On The Range and The Country Bears seemed destined for failure, but John Carter's failure was a surprise.

The Black Cauldron and Treasure Planet were even bigger surprises, because they both bombed hard despite being pretty great films that later got lots of love as cult classics.

That's why The Black Cauldron and Treasure Planet are also on WatchMojo's list of underrated animated Disney films, because they were sadly overlooked just like The Great Mouse Detective and Brother Bear.
