QRorschach - Who Scans The Masked Man?

QRorschach by kgullholmen

Rorschach once decided to get with the times and change up his wardrobe to reflect our modern society, so he had a custom QR mask made with a code that led to the Watchmen's website. He'd forgotten to consider how annoying it would be to have people walk up and scan his face with their phones everywhere he went, and then came the endless stream of comedians who thought they were being clever by taking a selfie with him. It was enough to drive Rorschach to murder, but he found an easier solution to his problems- he simply unplugged his modem and started reading books again!

Isn't it time to update your geeky wardrobe? If you bring home this QRorschach t-shirt by Kgullholmen you'll not only be adding some cutting edge humor to your closet- you'll be giving your fellow fans something to smile about!

Watch Jack Kerouac Discuss The Hippies On A Talk Show Back In 1968

There's a common misconception about the Beat Generation that persists to this day and makes Jack Kerouac roll around in his grave- Beatniks are the same as Hippies.

Putting aside the obvious facts that Beats enjoy jazz, coffee and pills while Hippies like to drop acid, drink wine and listen to psychedelic rock there's another distinction- the Beats were voracious readers.

That's not to say Hippies didn't enjoy reading too, but the written word wasn't a backbone of the movement like it was for the Beats, and where Hippies were often spaced out Jack and the Beats generally just acted obtuse.

This episode of Firing Line from 1968 features William F. Buckley, Jr. discussing the rise of the Hippies in the stuffiest way possible, while Jack Kerouac drunkenly rambles and provides comic relief.

World War I Is Hell For The Rabbits In Poilus

War is hell, and war in the warrens is even more hellish since most of the battles play out in tunnels underground.

But, as Watership Down showed us, when there is unhoppiness in the rabbit community it can lead to all out war, turning rabbit against rabbit in a blind battle for survival.

POILUS was created by ISART DIGITAL, the name derived from the informal term for the infantry soldiers of the French army who fought in WWI.

These NeatoShop T-Shirts Are Strictly For The Scientifically Minded

Alternative Facts by fishbiscuit

It's hard to believe that science is under attack in the 21st century, but for some reason the regressive folks in the world see facts derived through the scientific method as a threat, which is truly bananas.

But we're not monkeying around when we say Neatorama is written by science fans for science fans, and therefore it's no surprise that the NeatoShop is full of fun shirts for the scientifically minded!

Julie Andrews Reveals The Danger She Faced While Filming Mary Poppins

There are few movie scenes more iconic than the scenes in Mary Poppins where Mary takes flight with her umbrella, and those magical scenes dazzle youngsters and fill their minds with wonder to this day.

But the umbrella scenes were a real pain to shoot due to the practical fx, which could have cost Julie her life- because she slipped out of her harness while hanging from a wire and fell to the stage below:

"Yes, there was a very dangerous day right at the end of filming when I was in this excruciatingly painful harness. And I was hanging around up there for the longest time with the umbrella. I thought I felt the wire leave and drop about six inches. I was nervous and very tired. So I called down and I said, 'Excuse me, when you do let me down, could you let me down really gently, because I felt myself slip and I just don't feel too safe up here.'"

She then revealed that she "plummeted to the stage", continuing: "There was an awful silence for a minute and I did let fly with a few Anglo-Saxon four-letter words, I have to admit."

Julie Andrews shared her death defying tale on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and now I have a whole new respect for her as an actress- and a stuntwoman!

French Photographer Finds Pink Magic In The Streets Of China

While French photographer Marilyn Mugot was out purposely getting lost in Chongqing and Guilin, China when she started noticing one thing happening on the streets after dark- there were pink lights everywhere.

This touch of pink really stood out in an otherwise grey and blue city, and gave her photos an enchanted quality that could only be captured during the "blue hour"-

Unlike “golden hour,” the blue hour is cold instead of warm. It’s found not in nature but mostly in cities, where artifical interior lights interact with what’s going on outside.

At blue hour, Mugot says the world “seems to stop.” Everything that is delicate and invisible during the day comes into focus for one flickering instant. “Nothing more exists,” the artist says of standing behind the lens, “my mind gets empty.”

In the end, the photographer might be the most at home when she’s far away. In China’s blue hour, she found a place and time to set her imagination free.

The Secret Hell Behind Those PillsDairy Batterboy Commercials

The Pillsbury Doughboy's heart must be made of stone because he has been watching people shove dough in ovens for over fifty years and still manages to teehee about it all.

And, as this parody PillsDairy Batterboy commercial shows, that's one aspect of Poppin' Fresh's life we never stop to consider- the fact that he's helping Pillsbury sell his own doughpeople to hungry humans.

Rarely Seen Photos From Grace Jone's 30th Birthday Party

I will always think of Conan the Destroyer when I think of Grace Jones, because her performance in that film instantly made her one of my favorite famous faces in the 1980s.

Grace is equal parts ferocity and grace, and that savage beauty from Jamaica showed the world that you can be an actress, supermodel and singer and still be yourself in every way:

In the ‘70s and ‘80s we all had our fun, and now and then we went really too far. But, ultimately, it required a certain amount of clear thinking, a lot of hard work and good make-up to be accepted as a freak.—Grace Jones

On June 12th, 1978, the LaFarfelle Disco in New York threw Grace a fabulous and funky 30th birthday party that not only encapsulated Grace's personality- it pretty much defined the Disco era.

There were Leather Boys, Drag Queens and Disco Divas in attendance, as well as Elton John, Divine and Andy Warhol.

We're only able to get a small glimpse of what went on that night from these photos, but knowing Grace the party probably went on for the next few days!

What Those Little Diamond Patches On Backpacks Are For

When kids buy a backpack for school they often have no idea that adults use the same backpacks for a variety of activities and not just to haul books and binders around, so many of the bag's functions remain a mystery.

One of the most common types of backpacks used by kids is "the one with the diamond on it", and that little leather diamond is doodled on, cut and similarly defaced, but what the heck is it for?

Backpackers know the lash tabs or "pig snout" is there to extend the pack's carrying capability by allowing you to strap another smaller pack, bedroll, etc. on as needed.

I wish I had known that as a kid so I could have strapped my dirty gym clothes on there instead of carrying them around in a plastic bag all day...

Photo Of Dog Wearing Pants Settles The Internet's Greatest Debate

(Image Link)

It's a question nearly as age long as which came first the chicken or the egg or if a tree falls in the woods, and the debate still rages on- how would a dog wear pants? On all four of its legs and half its body or just on the back legs?

This topic has been discussed online quite a bit, and the debate heated up again when writer Jared Keller posted this meme on Twitter:

When asked 81 percent of people thought the two legged style seemed best, but then a few weeks ago Jared was finally able to put the debate to bed when he spotted a dog IRL wearing pants.

Four legged style it is, folks! And in case you couldn't see the dog pants well enough in that pic here's a closer shot of a different dog wearing the same pants:

Trout Jumps Out Of Water And Turns Into Fishsicle

As spring starts to creep in and thaw the frost it's important to remember how good it feels to get out of the bitter cold and warm your bones again, because winter can be a killer.

Just ask this poor trout how he feels about winter...oh wait, you can't, he's frickin' dead, frozen to the side of a bridge after taking a leap like a fishheaded fool.

Decorah fish hatchery biologist Brian Malaise discovered the unfortunate trout stuck to one of the hatchery's aluminum baffles while he was making his morning rounds.

So how did it happen? Let's get all scientifical:

When objects of different temperatures come into contact, they want to achieve thermal equilibrium (the point at which one is no longer warmer than the other). It’s this heat transfer that led the trout straight to Davey Jones’ locker. The moment the surfaces came into contact, the metal robbed the fish it of its body heat. And because aluminum is so conductive – it’s one of the most conductive common metals – the transfer happened fast enough to freeze the fish’s water-coated skin to the baffle.
