There are a lot of stupid trends that take off online these days, so it takes a lot to actually be one of the top ten stupidest ones featured here. A great example is the duck tape challenge, which involves wrapping someone with duct tape and filming them try to escape. It sounds stupid and painful, but it also ended up being surprisingly dangerous when one kid hit his head on a window ledge while trying to escape and suffered traumatic brain damage and went blind in one eye. Not all of the selections are dangerous -some are just idiotic marketing ideas that actually worked, but in one way or another, these internet trends remind us that we live in a planet of dumbasses.

Stand By Me is one of those classic movies adults and (slightly older) kids can enjoy watching over and over. But what do you really know about the film? However much you think you know, I'm willing to bet you weren't hip to many of the fun facts in this fun Zimbio article. For example, did you know it's Stephen King's favorite adaptation of any of his works? Or that King actually had a friend of his get hit by a train when he was a kid? It's a fun read that will make you enjoy the film even more.
Music festivals provide a unique(ly dirty) experience for concert goers who aren't content with one or two bands playing a mere two or three hour show.
For the rest of us these (typically) outdoor events represent a trial in one or more ways, an ordeal we have to get through in order to see our favorite bands play under the stars.
But if you think music festivals are an ordeal for the audience imagine how the workers feel!
They have to deal with people trying to smuggle in booze, people who drank too much booze and those jerks who think it's okay to throw cups full of pee at workers because they're not allowed to just walk up on stage.
A festival worker from the UK named Hilary Mitchell shared her thoughts about music festivals with BuzzFeed, and revealed things that festival workers know but audiences still don't for some odd reason.
Hilary blows the lid off the port-a-potty mystery (they're cleaned every day by a worker who gets hazard pay), reveals that most first-aiders are volunteers, and tells us why we shouldn't roll in the mud (it's full of bodily waste).

Emotions run high for contestants on game shows, even when that game show is played while sitting on a comfy couch in what looks like the tamest coffee shop in Sweden.
But when you travel all the way from Lidköping to be on the show you expect to walk away with some killer prizes, so if you lose you might as well burn that coffee shop to the ground...figuratively, of course.

These videos were then shown to singles who could pick and choose who they wanted to date based on visual impression, allowing them to find their match made in heaven among those video dating stars.
However, people weren't used to being in front of a camera all the time like they are today, so many of these video dating profiles were painfully awkward to watch.

But what are we to think when some guy named Dan Hopper live tweets his co-worker's epic quitting meltdown even though that co-worker claims none of it ever actually happened?
We're supposed to shake our fists and say “you got me again, ya darn internet hooligan!”, which is probably how people reacted after reading a few of Dan's “live tweets”.

Artists are constantly reimagining pop culture characters in Asian (mostly Japanese) art styles, but there's a great big world full of other styles out there which are constantly being overlooked.
That's why these Mayan art inspired versions of Super Smash Bros. 4 characters by Tucson-based artist Sita Nava are a breath of fresh air, standing out in a sea of ninjas and samurai.
The characters, and their powers, are still easy to identify in the Mayan glyph style, and Sita's inclusion of traditional Mayan fashion and symbols complete each character's Mesoamerican transformation.
