I was amazed to see the giant bulk sizes of some items had a higher unit cost, not a lower one, as one would assume. "Let me get the really big one. I have the storage space, so lets save a few bucks..." ends up costing more sometimes. Gotta check.
I remember when Predator and Innerspace were the only two competing in 1987. Many of us from Manhattan's R/Greenberg Associates, which was responsible for the Predator work, were in a bar glued to the TV. Presenter Sean Connery said, "And the winner is..." (this was back when they still used that phrase) And then he correceted his tense from "is" to "are." As soon as he said "are," we all assumed he was saying R, the beginning sound in the name "R/Greenberg Associates," and the place went nuts! I bet it took 10 minutes for everyone to realize Innerspace had won.
When Chekhov saw the long winter, he saw a winter bleak and dark and bereft of hope. Yet we know that winter is just another step in the cycle of life. But standing here among the people of Neatorama and basking in the warmth of their hearths and hearts, I couldn't imagine a better fate than a long and lustrous winter.
No, it's Photoshopped, but so many of those Escher-style illusions create ambiguity between foreground and background, which is especially easy to do when things don't appear smaller when they are more distant.
