that is incredible! the mythbusters took on the splitting an arrow myth, but i forget how it ended. i feel like they decided it was not possible... but obviously, it is. they needed this guy on their show.

I worked on Transporter 2 (#1,#2, and #7 above contain shots I worked on), and I have an interesting tidbit to share, from the director Louis Leterrier:

Jason Statham's character is gay, as is François Berléand's (they are lovers).

Let that sink in, have a chuckle, and rewatch the second film. it is dripping with references to this fact, and knowing it makes the film 10x more enjoyable- you will get the jokes that you never realized were jokes. The sexual double entendres are amazing, especially from Berléand. In many ways, deciding to make such a macho man in a "guy's movie" a homosexual is brilliant.

any time i see an animal on a surfboard (last month i think it was a cat, yes?) i can't help but think that they are staying on due to feeling trapped, not out of pleasure. what do i know, i don't speak any animal languages so i can't ask them, but based on body posture i don't think these rats look happy. that's just me.

I went to an all-boys High School (Jesuit) in California, and while I do not know how I would have turned out had I gone to a "normal" school, I do know that I am not really any more awkward socially than most nerdy types are A bunch of my friends in H.S. were actually girls anyways due to theater and a wider outside of school network of friends. I also think that I personally thrived in the school I went to due to the extreme focus on school- socialization was an after school activity, and not having girls in the mix made the pressures that come from traveling through the wonderful wide world of puberty a lot easier. I just can't say either way if it is a better system, having experienced only one side, but I can say that from my side of this one, single sex education can work. Most people who rail against it have not experienced it, so really neither side is going to win this one anytime soon.

thank you for a good laugh! they are really lucky the wire didn't snap first and take one of the morons standing next to the truck out. and how could they not even flinch or visibly react to a tree falling onto a truck??

I have been mumbling that we are headed for a new Great Depression for a while now- bad, bad things are on the horizon if we do not do MASSIVE damage control to repair the economy. Not just the housing market, that is just the first domino in this disaster- the wealth and tax imbalance we have right now is not sustainable, the wars overseas will bleed us dry, the trade and budget deficits and our mounting national debt are growing dangerously every day... we are f##ked.

i am more interested in learning where this myth came from in the first place- who decided that fish can only remember 3 seconds into the past, and how did they test their hypothesis? i know that my entire life this has been the common belief re: goldfish, but how on earth did it actually start!

I have slowly lost several aquariums to algae and disrepair over the years- as amazing and beautiful as these are, I don't think I could ever trust myself to keep them looking like this! Very cool find, guys.

we already have the technology to make near-perfect diamonds for a tiny fraction of the cost (both human and as a result of the manufactured short supply) that natural diamonds incur. and there is no way that mining this thing would ever be worth the cost of flying out to it and back. that said, it's a really cool find!
