This man started by writing and producing plays and performing them on the "Chitlin' Circuit" of churches and small venues throughout the South. After a difficult start, his plays created sold-out, standing room only crowds for several consecutive years. He then approached Hollywood studio executives with screenplays to be made into feature films.
