The problem here is there's no consequences to the officer that does this. So they will continue to do it. You have to go to court to contest the ticket which will be thrown out...but you had to take time off from work to do it. Will you flash your lights the next time? Probably not.

I think it's more Buddhist than Jewish...lots of concentration and visualizations and the arguments are like koans with no formal answer.

Anybody that's been to the gym has encountered folks like her...judgmental narcissists that spend hours every day staring at themselves in the mirror while pumping themselves up...I don't envy or admire them and have no interest in emulating them.

Cancer from cigarette smoking and mesothelioma from asbestos inhalation are both diseases that happen due to voluntary human behavior. Why should obesity not also be considered a disease? The bottom line is getting help for people that have a health problem, not placing blame.

Even if you figure 4 weeks of paid vacation per year, it means she worked 20 years without taking a single day off, all of which was owed to her by contract.

In Game of Thrones, unsullieds are given a puppy the day they are castrated and must kill it a year later or be fed to the dogs themselves.

Actually for short-term frost-bite protection, that's exactly what you want. You want warm core blood to circulate freely to extremities. It's not a good long term treatment because you will become hypothermic sooner than you would otherwise but for this situation it sounds like they did the right thing.

The remake of the Wicker Man was horrible and missed the point of the original which was actually rather interesting and was a statement about the counter culture of the time.

I'd recommend Insidious...the plot is pretty typical but somehow it manages to make your spine tingle anyway...

The real lesson here is that a credit score is more about how much a credit provider is likely to make off you than whether you are actually in good financial shape. As long as you don't route money through a credit card, you basically don't exist.

All you have to do is watch a self-immolation by a Buddhist monk to understand just how much control you can have via very strong and prolonged meditation practice.
