jeez...old guy, world war two vet, wife died, sending stuff to the troops...I don't care if he copies every copyrighted thing in the world he's STILL a hero. any corporate lawyer with half a brain can see this is a photo opportunity not a time to sue somebody...

I remember that thing...it was closed the time I went there back in the 80s with all sorts of rumors...the standard story was they didn't keep good track of who went in and who came out so they sent somebody down before the last guy made it out...and the last guy was stuck at the top of the loop so they collided and both died...

And ya that place was nuts. You'd see all these people walking around with mercurichrome stains on various scrapes...mostly from riding that thing that was a long halfpipe that you rode on with a sort of cart...you were free inside the halfpipe and the surface was rough so you'd get some speed up...start to ride up the wall...then push against it with your arm or leg and it was kind of like holding your arm against a grinding wheel...what fun

I'm always amused by the folks that crow about this or that not being "neat"...jeez y'all don't read it if you don't find it interesting...and as long as this blog remains free, the bloggers can post as they like. Keep up the good work bloggers :)

You get what you ask for...zero tolerance policies didn't just spring out of nothing, they were what parents clamored for when they went into hysterics over minor childish things...Here's hoping for a more tolerant generation.

It's always funny to me when people yak about this or that custom going the way of buggy whips (which, by the way are common around here in Amish country). A person from the 18th century would be aghast...but then they would have been aghast 10 years ago, 20, 30...really pretty much any time after their own. Clinging to outmoded forms of address and politesse is the mark of a rigid mind.

It's an interesting exercise but that's about it...homeless means desperate and unable to afford a place to sleep...that's pretty fundamental to human existence so it's a pretty precarious place to find yourself. That's not what this fellow is experiencing however it's probably pretty useful from the standpoint of gaining some insight into the feelings of true homeless people. Here's hoping he doesn't mistake it for the real thing and start toting an attitude that he's down with the underclass...

I think it was a good-hearted attempt to address some long-standing injustices that has run its course. If you'd told a white person in the 50's that there would be a black president, they would have laughed. So we've come a long way and maybe it's time we get back to judging applicants without factoring their race.
