hahahaha!! What a topic to see at the top of Neatorama this evening. My favorite line has to be the first:

"You may have noticed that the human penis lacks spines protruding from the surface."

Yes, I may have noticed that. Thank you. =)

Wasn't whining, loved the photos. I loved what the artist was doing with them. Just asking for a polite label that said NSFW.

Oh, and ted, you know better. Men with shirts off is hardly risque. I would prefer a society like many I have lived in where nudity is hardly a topic, yet it is.

I have noticed that over time, many comments are turning into YouTube comments.

@ted: I don't waste my time during work hours, just on my lunch break catching up on random, useless facts and news from websites like this.

I have been coming here for years, and usually even if something has a little foul language on the screen, someone would label NSFW on the post. I think that frontal nudity would count as something that most people would frown upon, even if it is only one photo.

Not being a prude, would just not risk the chance that someone would look over my shoulder and see something inappropriate. I would rather read something that may be NSFW at home, hence NSFW.

I learned on an Apple II back in the 80s when I was in grade school. I was taught to use two spaces as that was the "correct" way and I still do (if Neatorama reformats this, so be it). After reading the article I am still not convinced that one way is correct over the other (and not because my way is "wrong").

Typesetters may use this, but I am not a typesetter. I find that the two space break slightly helps my readability on top of the period as it is a clearer break. All this is due to the English language being fractionalized and one side saying that they are correct over the other.

Take quotes for instance. If you are "quoting something", does your comma go inside the quotes or outside them? Are you quoting the comma? I have seen arguments for and against this.

In the end, you can argue until you are blue in the face. The fact of the matter is that everyone is told that one way is the proper way to do something (and it may hold true for where they are from) and that as long as we understand what they are trying to convey, we can tolerate the fact that they are different. Not wrong, just different.

The only plus side I see of this is that more kids will be reading this classic.

That being said, I agree with other comments here. Leaving the word in the book will give rise to discussions on its meaning and why it is no longer used. Then understanding and acceptance will begin. Editing, censoring, or banning the word only leads to people seeking it even more. This can be evidenced with any item or thing that was changed, censored, or banned.

If read aloud, it would be uncomfortable for some (including myself) to actually say the word. An alternate could be used that wouldn't change the meaning. Negro would be one such word. This again could be discussed by the class as to why the word is no longer used.

I work for the government and acronyms abound here. That caps lock key comes in handy when you try to reference places like ARFOCROC and models like TRHIR-345A.

Yep, cheating. I would wager that the people who are paying for these services were raised by people who gave them everything. Not necessarily rich, but people who are not hard workers.

If they ever rescind the ban on people who have spent a cumulative time of 3 months in England, I might actually be able to donate in America. My dad was stationed there for 6 years =/ I'm pretty sure I don't have Mad Cow.
