The only immortal animal in the world
The turritopsis nutricula species of jellyfish, native to the Carribean, is thought to be the only animal on earth that can repeatedly revert back to its first stage of life as a polyp. It does this by transdifferentiation, where one type of cell is converted to another. By repeatedly reverting from a mature adult to a polyp and repeating the cycle, this jellyfish can theoretically be immortal.
