BOTFLY: A Vampire Insect as Horrifying as any Fiction
There are insects called "botflies" that lay their eggs upon a warm-blooded mammalian host (including humans) whereby they hatch, and the larvae burrow beneith the skin and live for up to a year, drinking the blood and fluids as they mature...

"...There are about 150 species of hairy flies that are known to be parasitic to mammals. Notably there is the Dermatobia hominus, the human botfly. This is going to be nasty folks."
