6 Fantastic Surreal Movies You've Probably Never Heard About
Every so often the film world brings us true one-of-a-kind gems of surrealism that transcend our common notion of narrative and beauty. In this post you will find six exquisite examples of surrealist filmmaking from around the world - real masterpieces that must be seen.

1. CONSPIRATORS OF PLEASURE (Spiklenci Slasti)
Jan Svankmajer, Czech Republic - 1996

Svankmajer is a master of surrealism and a world-reference for stop-motion animation. Although this isn't one of his most known films, I consider it his masterpiece. With no dialogues (nor need for any), the characters never meet - still it crafts a synesthetic network where fetishes and desires are realized in a surprising manner. You could oversimplify it as a film about onanism, full of absolutely surreal sequences with Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony as soundtrack, but that wouldn't do it justice. Pure cinema at its best form.
