Where’s Wall-E?

Posted by Miss Cellania in Art, Robot on August 19, 2011 at 9:17 am

Where’s Wall-E? is a step beyond Where’s Waldo?! This poster, created by Richard Sargent, features a crowd of robots that should be familiar to you from movies and TV. Can you find Wall-E among the many? Hopewell Studios is giving away a print to the person who can name the most of the robots. You can see a larger version, and get a numbered key for the contest, at their website.  Link -via The Daily What Geek

Wall-e The Angel Dog

Wall-e, a three-month old pup, and four of his littermates were left outside a Sulphur, Oklahoma animal shelter. Because they looked sickly the decision was made to euthanize them. The other four puppies succumbed to the procedure but little Wall-e was found alive in a dumpster a day later by animal control officer Scott Prall. It is appalling that such a thing could have happened to an animal but hundreds of people have applied to adopt Wall-e who was named after Disney-Pixar’s fictional robot that was the last of his kind. It looks like there is a loving home on the horizon for this resurrected puppy.

DustCart: The Real Life Wall-E

Posted by Alex in Science & Tech on July 9, 2009 at 3:13 pm

Meet DustCart, a real-life Wall-E, created by Italian scientist Paolo Dario and colleagues at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna University.

The robotic trash bin can revolutionize trash collection in small Italian towns with small and windy streets inaccessible to large garbage trucks:

Like a taxi answering a call, DustCart rode across the terrace to meet the caller.

Once the robot arrived, it asked for a personal ID number that both identifies the user and tracks the garbage. It also asked for the kind of trash being dumped — organic, recyclable or waste. DustCart then opened its belly bin, collected the trash and took it to a fake dumping site.

We’ve featured incredibly cute Wall-E LEGO creations on Neatorama before (twice, actually), but this one takes the cake: an incredibly detailed Wall-E wooden sculpture by Morpheus Prototypes Morpheus Creative Form Development, commissioned by Disney as a gift for Pixar/Disney Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter
