Ninja Hide and Seek

Ok, so maybe there is a slight hint of sarcasm incorporated into the title of this video.  Apparently there is a learning curve, for some, when it comes to the classic household game of hide and seek.  This little "ninja" has a long way to go in terms of mastering the art of finding a stealthy hiding spot.  The two images at the end of the video are priceless.

Every once in a while, someone will say, “I wish I’d been around when that happened.” You can get a taste for what it was like to live through historical moments by watching converted film footage, news reports, historic speeches, sports coverage, and even famous musical performances on YouTube. This list has links to 101 available videos, some of which you’d never think of to look for on your own. Just a few are recreations. Pictured is a screenshot from the destruction of the Berlin Wall. This resource will be useful to help my children with their history lessons! Link -via the Presurfer

The Top Ten Food-Based Rube Goldberg Machines

Posted by Miss Cellania in Food & Drinks, Gadget on September 28, 2009 at 11:30 am

People love watching unbelievably intricate contraptions designed to perform simple tasks. Days to design and build, a minute or two to use (depending on how many times something goes wrong), and possible YouTube stardom are involved. Eat Me Daily has collected videos of ten Rube Goldberg contraptions that use food, make food, or deliver food. Link -via Metafilter

The 15 Weirdest Music Videos Of All Time

Posted by Queuebot in Music on September 17, 2009 at 12:51 am

There have certainly been many odd music videos over the years. The short format seems to invite experimentation and risk taking. Brainz has collected 15 of the weirdest videos of all time, including a gem from Leonard Nimoy for his song "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins":

As if Leonard Nimoy needed to prove himself even more odd, the ‘Star Trek’ legend released this gem. “The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins”, which comes in at number 9 on our list, tells the story of the little Hobbit featured in J.R.R Tolkien’s “The Hobbit”. Beyond weird.

Disneyland Construction Time Lapse

Posted by Jill Harness in Travel & Places, Video Clips on July 27, 2009 at 11:20 pm

It’s hard not to love this fantastic time lapse footage of Disneyland’s original construction.

Rare and unseen footage of Disneyland’s construction narrated by Imagineers. Includes some amazing new footage of Walt Disney walking the site before construction even started and some never-before-seen timelapse footage of the park from groundbreaking until opening day. This film was on the way to deep storage and was found by a curious employee, otherwise there’s a good chance we’d never get to see this.

Thank goodness that curiosity doesn’t kill the Disney employee or we would have all missed out on this great find.

20 Beautiful Video Motion Pieces

Posted by Ali S. in Arts & Crafts, Cartoon & Comic, Funny, Media, Movies & SciFi, Music, Video Clips on March 8, 2009 at 10:57 pm

One of my favourite blogs “Smashing Magazine” has a fascinating post filled with awesome video clips all about amazing art presented through video. When an artist wants to show off their portfolio some of them go about creating a show reel to show their art, experience and skill.

This can be in various aspects such as editing, directing, animation and so forth. One that really caught my eye from their 20 clips posted has to be this one which blew my mind with the dazzling use of live projection mapping. The creator himself explains, “This is an experimental film made up of over 35,000 photographs. It combines an innovative mix of stop motion and live projection mapping techniques.”

I totally remember the Michael Jordan/Larry Bird commercial, and I’m amused by the Michael J. Fox ad for Diet Pepsi. It’s so ’80s! Warning: there are current ads sprinkled here and there as well.

Slumdogs and Millionaires

Posted by Queuebot in Travel & Places on January 28, 2009 at 4:22 pm

If the portrait of India in this movie mystifies you, this series of short documentary videos from National Geographic offers some explanations.

Focussing on the seismic changes coming about as a result of the Golden Quadrilateral, a wildly ambitious superhighway project that will finally link the major cities of Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, New Delhi and Mumbai, the videos help you understand the pride of a young woman earning her living for the first time, the frustration of poor farmers losing their lands to a new auto plant, the stunning prosperity of families in million-dollar subdivisions, and the loneliness of long-distance truck drivers who describe their jobs as the filthiest in India.
