Chickens Are Clucking Up Video Games

It seems that one of the newest trends in gaming is the addition of a chicken in some way, due no doubt to the success of Angry Birds.

The first video shows gameplay from The Chicken Bandit, “a western side-scrolling action game” where you “Play as a lone cowboy accompanied only by his over-sized chicken sidekick as you travel from land to land robbing trains and lassoing up as much loot as possible.”

The second video is the trailer for Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chickens for the Playstation Vita. It’s also a side scroller, full of shoot em up action, atmospheric environments and a chicken revolution.

It seems like 2012 might be the year of the chicken after all, at least when it comes to video games.

Visit the Wonderful Holds of Skyrim

Solitude, Windhelm or Whiterun, which of the fine holds will you visit during your next fantastic Skyrim vacation? Personally, I’m quite fond of Riften, but I guess I’m just a thief at heart.

When Adventure Time Goes Skyrim

Posted by Jill Harness in Art, Art & Design, Design, Entertainment, Gaming, TV on March 22, 2012 at 11:49 pm

I would love to see this crossover and the best part is that it seems like something Adventure Time would even consider taking on at some point.

Now That’s A Dedicated WOW Player

Posted by Jill Harness in Art, Art & Design, Entertainment, Gaming on March 10, 2012 at 2:15 am

Getting a full back tattoo dedicated to World of Warcraft is a pretty big sign of your dedication. I mean, that means that even 30 years from now you’ll still have to prefer it over Star Wars Old Republic, DC Universe Online, Rift, or any of the thousand other awesome MMOs that will come out in that time. Otherwise, you’ll just look like a hypocrite, and no one wants that.

Star Wars Kinnect Features Bikini-Dancing Leia

I don’t know about you guys, but when I want to play Star Wars video games, I certainly don’t want to play Dance Central. I don’t know many people who would either, which is why the idea of having a slave Princess Leia dance contest seems so silly. You can check out the action at 4:30.

What do you guys think? Yay or nay?

Antichamber Is Psychedelic Gaming Goodness

Posted by Zeon Santos in Entertainment, Gaming, Video Clips on February 29, 2012 at 11:22 pm

(YouTube Link)

In a world full of first person shooters and epic roleplaying games, it’s nice to know that game designers are still interested in stepping out of their comfort zones and creating strange conceptual games that blow minds and take players on some rather strange trips.

Created by Alexander Bruce, this game looks like a nightmare journey through an old school PC with a serious virus, and the soundtrack serves as a constant reminder that things aren’t always what they seem in this surreal journey called Antichamber.

Scary Cool Diablo 3 Demon Hunter Cosplay

Posted by Zeon Santos in Entertainment, Fashion, Gaming, Living, Pictures on February 29, 2012 at 3:57 am

Who wants another boring old superhero costume, or another suit of Spartan armor, when you can have the allure and mystery that is this little cutie looking badass in her big ol’ battle armor?

The white out contacts are a nice touch, as is the bag full of  potion vials at the ready, but I started to wonder what this Demon Hunter looks like without the armor.

Then I realized that Its_Raining_Neon’s DeviantART page (link found below) would probably feature some *ahem* more revealing pics, so I checked it out and found out that pretty much all of her cosplay sessions are epic scale goodness. Be still my beating heart!

Princess Peach Channels Lana Del Rey

Posted by Zeon Santos in Entertainment, Gaming, Music, Video Clips on February 28, 2012 at 10:20 pm

You know her as the damsel who’s eternally in distress in the Super Mario Bros. video game franchise, but does anybody bother to ask her how she feels about needing to be saved all the time?

Princess Peach channels Lana Del Rey to tell you, in her own words, why she’s sick of being an end game prize, and why she longs for the days when she starred as a playable character.

Lesser Known Uses Of Portals

Posted by Zeon Santos in Art, Art & Design, Comics & Cartoons, Entertainment, Gaming, Pictures, Science Fiction on February 20, 2012 at 11:15 pm

This whimsical illustrated chart by Aaron Thong shows some alternate uses for portals, like the ones created by the handheld portal device carried by the main characters in the Portal video game series.

You’d better ask for permission from GLaDOS before attempting these unauthorized uses of your portal gun, or you may be taken offline. Skydiving seems like a fun way to use a portal, but hula hooping looks downright dangerous!

The Top Ten Banned Video Games of All Time

Posted by Jill Harness in Entertainment, Gaming on February 18, 2012 at 10:37 pm

It might not surprise you that Call of Duty 4 was banned in the Middle East or that Postal was banned in Australia, but some of these top ten banned games are a bit of a shock. For example, Mass Effect was banned in Singapore for its lesbian love scene. The most surprising item on the list though? Football Manager 5 (that’s a soccer game for my fellow Americans). Why was it banned? Because the game lists Tibet as an independent country and that is just not acceptable for The People’s Republic of China.

Ever since Bethesda Studios released the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Toolkit, which allows users to freely modify their gaming experience, things have been getting a little weird.

From tiny Nords to Frostbite Spiders that resemble a deformed Spider Man to swords lit up like light sabers, gamers have been going to town with the toolkit, making the world of Elder Scrolls a much more colorful place.

Recently, Bethesda Studios teamed up with Valve, the makers of the Portal video game series, to celebrate the release of the Toolkit by introducing the cute little Space Core robot from Portal 2 as a time traveling visitor. But what does the little guy do, besides take up space in your inventory?

Join The Campaign Against The Mario Bros.

Posted by Zeon Santos in Art, Art & Design, Comics & Cartoons, Design, Entertainment, Gaming, Pictures on February 14, 2012 at 1:38 am

Just because the video games in the Mario Bros. franchise feature Mario and Luigi as good guys doesn’t mean that the other denizens of the Mushroom Kingdom don’t see them as total jerks. From their penchant for destroying brick structures to their cold blooded turtle kicking tactics, the Mario Bros. just might be the enemy after all.

These propaganda posters from the Mushroom Kingdom urge you to take action against the moustachioed plumbers, and they ask the question the Shy Guys are afraid to answer- “The Koopas are fighting, why aren’t you?”
