In the newest NSFW trailer for the upcoming cheerleader zombie slayer video game Lollipop Chainsaw, we are introduced to the apple of the main character Juliet’s eye-the severed head of her boyfriend, Nick, which she carries around on her hip, and uses to overcome obstacles in some very interesting ways.
As if chopping off Nick’s head so he doesn’t become a zombie isn’t romantic enough, the couple remain very affectionate, discussing the possibility of having children someday, in-between bouts of dicing up the walking dead.
Awwwww, finally there’s a love story for those of us who think Twilight is total drek. Way to keep that chainsaw engine revving Juliet!

Mario fans, make your own 1UP Mushroom Burger with tips from momo! at Instructables. This particular burger has a veggie mushroom patty, but you can get the same effect with meat. The spots on the bun are mozzarella cheese! Link -via Laughing Squid

The iconic weapon wielded by the main character(s) in the Portal video game franchise is about to become a reality thanks to the team at Neca, makers of fine replicas and awesome action figures.
This 1/1 replica looks so good that your fellow cosplayers will be sooooo jealous when they see you sporting this bad boy! And the quite affordable $208 price tag makes it perfectly accessible to all who want to strap this sucker on during playtime.
You can see lots more pretty pictures of this cool life-size replica at the link below. I predict a flood of Portal cosplayers will be in attendance at Comic-Con this year, and every one of them will have one of these strapped to their arm. The world could use a few more Portal costumes, and about a thousand less anime cosplayers!

You might think video game designers are constantly trying to design characters that are hard to duplicate in real life. And every time, creative cosplayers find a way to do it. Take a look at the Shiva Sisters, Styria and Nix, from the game Final Fantasy XIII. See more pictures and some details of how they did it at Unreality magazine. Link
This great Legend Of Zelda trailer was created by Joel Furtado for a game called The Lost Oracle, a sequel to The Wind Waker that doesn’t exist, at least not yet, because Nintendo might decide to do a sequel when they see this great animated short!

This Is Aperture is robots and laser beams, and some beautiful scenes from the video game Portal 2 cut together with a song sung to the tune of This Is Halloween from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Aside from a few questionable word choices and forced rhymes, it’s cyber cute and definitely lives up to the sense of humor found in the Portal games.

This is a crazy cool remix of the Alien video game theme song, a game which was released on the Commodore 64, appropriately being played on a Commodore 64, laptop and some other musical doohickeys. Add Southern Comfort as inspiration and a creepy green goblin looking mask and you’ve got old school awesome sauce. Makes me wish I still had my C64!

If you’re tired of the zombie-less, cinematic cutscene instead of visceral gameplay direction that the Resident Evil video game series has been heading in over the years, then you’re in for a treat when the newest incarnation (#6) is released in spring 2012.
Taking the series back to it’s roots promises to be a horrifying experience, full of zombies, giant genetic monstrosities and hardcore combat. Personally, I blame the movies for the direction that the games have been going in since their release, and this trailer shows that the game designers aren’t content with letting their zombified series turn into schlocky Hollywood drivel without a bloody battle.
I can’t wait to get my hands on this one and start splitting some heads, even if that split head grows fangs and bites back!

Movies aren’t the only entertainment medium fond of ripping off ideas, video games have been ripping each other off from day one. The games on this list compiled by Dorkly are made up of familiar games with a slightly different look, proving that imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but it generally doesn’t help you sell your product.
From Super Mario Bros. to Street Fighter, to (relatively) newer games like Team Fortress and Grand Theft Auto, no popular game is safe from copycats, yet sometimes a rip-off game takes on a life of its own and makes it big. So, should we hate on imitators, or enjoy the way they lampoon the big names in the industry?
When the grizzled war veterans from the video game franchise Contra take over fellow video game star Paperboy‘s route, due to an unforeseen decapitation, there’s going to be a lot more than broken windows and ruined birdbaths on Easy Street.
This time around the guys from Contra don’t even need an unlimited lives cheat code to tear up the competition!

When hacks and mods are created for video games, they are typically created to enhance the gaming experience, and nothing says “experience enhanced” like giant pink dragons wearing Macho Man style gear and facial hair.
This wacky mod by FancyPantz brings the pain to the fantasy world of the video game Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, all while fondly remembering the pro wrestler/Slim Jim spokesman/fashion pioneer Macho Man Randy Savage.
If you’re playing Skyrim on a PC, you can download this crazy mod here and add some showmanship to y0ur game! Guaranteed to make you say “Ooooooooh Yeah!” during your next epic gaming session.

I think the Cold War may have kept this game from arriving in America, either that or the manufacturer didn’t feel like the reference to Mikhail Gorbachev would help sell copies in the U.S.
Whatever the reason, Gorby’s Pipeline never made its way to the Nintendo Entertainment System, and that’s too bad because it looks like it would have given Tetris and Dr. Mario a run for their money! Anyone remember the old school video game Pipe Dream?

The 2011 holiday season is obviously over, and I’m sure most of you have already put away your decorations and chucked out your tree, ready to start a new year full of whatever 2012 has in store. But wait, there’s one more present waiting for you under the tree on the interwebs, and it’s called Mega Man’s Christmas Carol Part 2!
Brought to you by the good people at Sprites Inc., this fun retro styled game casts Doctor Wily as a Scroogey sort of fellow hell bent on ruining Christmas for Mega Man and his posse. And the best part is- you can download it for FREE!
So sit back, stretch your fingers, and bring that holiday cheer back one last time!

Ever wondered what it would have been like to endure a raven pecking out your liver, or pushing a rock up a hill and never reaching the top, like a punishment fit for a Greek from the age of myth?
Well, here’s your chance to get in on the fun, with these simple, cleverly designed pixel art video games by artist Pippin Barr. Choose from: Sisyphus, Tantalus, Prometheus, Danaids or Zeno, and prepare to be entertained for a few moments by the sheer hilarity of it all.
The games look like they’re straight from the Atari 2600, full of charm, strange shaped figures and jagged edges, and believe you me pushing two buttons over and over again can be quite exhausting!
The soundtrack music for the video game Skyrim is quite beautiful already, but when Jason Yang and his violin play the songs they become a thing of ethereal beauty.
We’ve been seeing a lot of this type of video game and orchestral/classical music crossover (Final Fantasy orchestra, Legend of Zelda orchestra, etc.), and I’m sure that game soundtracks will continue to inspire musicians of all kinds to perform their own interpretations of these songs.

Here’s a silly little animated short for all you Team Fortress fans out there, starring everyone’s favorite firebug Rudolph! Watch as he tries to burn the competition, and sing along as he is admonished for being such a useless class! Merry multiplayer mayhem to all, and to all a good fight!

As the description at YouTube says, “Blending was never Altair’s strong suit.” I don’t know anything about the video game Assassin’s Creed, but I still got a kick out of this funny geeky song! -Thanks, Eisenstein!
Itsa mashup trailer, featuring gameplay footage of everyone’s favorite stereotype plumber and the audio track from the latest Grand Theft Auto V teaser. Every time Mario tries to get out they pull him back in, like a giant pipe with a secret chamber inside.

It looks like Bill wasn’t lucky enough to survive a recent encounter with the undead in this Left 4 Dead fan film trailer from Airsoft GI and Northern Five Entertainment, based on the popular zombie apocalypse themed video game.
This trailer would make a great cut scene for Left 4 Dead gameplay after a member of the group dies. Man, i’d be bummed too if one of the four survivors in my group is now a buffet for the infected, and it’s probably my fault. The full length fan film is going to be released soon, and so far it looks like gloomy goodness.

Watch as Pac-Man lets down Ms. Pac-Man, and his little Pac children, by succumbing to Skyrim addiction. This NSFW pixel animation is very relatable these days, as Skyrim has created an epidemic of video game addiction virtually unmatched since the world was introduced to Warcraft.
C’mon Pac-Man, you know if you don’t bring home those power pellets the Ms. is going to let herself get caught by a ghost!

All of the games in the Katamari Damacy series have been strange to say the least, so I guess Namco Bandai figured “why not make a commercial as strange as our game?” Well, they have definitely succeeded with this billiards inspired promo, which features a pool shark slowly transforming into the Prince of the Cosmos.

Fans of the Mario Bros. video game franchise draw inspiration from the moustachioed plumbers in so many creative ways, but i’m generally most impressed by the musical tributes. This operatic styled song released on YouTube by legolambs has hilarious lyrics that go along with the gameplay so well that you’ll be entertained even though you’re watching someone play Super Mario Bros. for the millionth time.

Inspired by the Half Life video game series, and the sense of wonder experienced in the opening scene as Gordon Freeman pulls into Black Mesa station, this is one of those shorts that’s interesting to watch even if you’ve never played the games. Just think of it as a deleted scene from LOST, unless you are a die-hard Half Life fan, in which case you will find that statement to be offensive. Sorry about that.

Man, if this amazing little gaming device had been invented when I was a kid, I probably would have gone outside to play more often, although it would have surely been with this portable gaming console in hand. Called the HandyNES, it plays all the old Nintendo Entertainment System cartridges, and you can even use the light gun to play a tiny game of Duck Hunt.
Samus Aran has been bringing the girl power to video games since the premiere of Metroid on the original Nintendo Entertainment System, and although the series isn’t as prolific as, say, the Mario Bros. franchise, it nevertheless inspires a plethora of fan art.
But this life sized Samus fan art, made out of broken game cartridges from various gaming consoles, takes some serious dedication in terms of construction and the size of the display itself. And now this massive fan artwork is up for sale on Ebay, so you can bring it home and decide for yourself where the heck you’re going to display it!
After hearing this Bulgarian accordionist version of the Super Mario Bros. theme song, i’m starting to rethink Mario’s heritage. Maybe he spent some time in Bulgaria as a kid, or he has a Bulgarian doppelganger, because this song sounds so Mario!

These fondant delights might not be the best tasting cakes ever, but they sure look cool, like edible works of video game art. The folks at OC’s Little Kitchen have created a few different Plants Vs. Zombies inspired cakes, and some really cute cupcakes, which are stylish, sculptural delights.

Despite the lack of color, Ouka is a pretty game. The goal is to click on the swirling flower symbol. It starts out ridiculously easy and gets hard really quick after the first level. I got through level seven before I remembered I’m supposed to be working. Link -via Look at This
This trailer from GhallyWood, or Ghana, Africa is off the hook crazy. The first feature, called Devil May Cry 1&2, was taken to be a film adaptation of the video game franchise, but seems more like an urban horror tale featuring a devil and some sweet sword fighting.
The second feature, called the Killer 1&2, seems to be about a bloodthirsty lion and a giant mallet flying around trying to bonk people in the head. There’s a lot of head bonking and people yelling, and some of the worst computer animation you’ve ever seen. But hey, at least they’re trying to make films of their own in Ghana, and they sure seem to have the imagination.

Pepsiman is a true hero, overcoming every urban obstacle thrown at him in order to quench the thirst of citizens in need!
This strange offering from Japan was released in 1999 for the Sony Playstation game console, and it’s faceless hero graced an advertising campaign in which Pepsiman saved people from death-by-thirst.
Do you think this game looks like goofy fun or a shameless advertising campaign?
