London based artist Xue Wang has a fantastic, albeit dark, imagination which comes spilling out onto the canvas. Her influences seem to be classic cartoons, Mark Ryden and the surgery channel, with scenarios that seem like they came straight from a David Lynch movie.

These thought provoking collages by Romanian-born artists Irina and Silviu Szekely have a classic Surrealist/Dada style, and perception distorting elements that guide the eyes on a strange trip around the scene.
The images used to make up each collage are simple, yet iconic, which makes each piece powerful enough to be memorable, and they remind me of classic early 20th century works by Giorgio de Chirico and Max Ernst, among others. Michael Beitz is quite skilled at turning ordinary objects into otherworldly art pieces. While my personal favorite is this great jointed tree, there are plenty more amazing objects at the link.

Made by Santiago Grasso, this short yet insightful cartoon has lots to say and plenty of style to keep your eyes satisfied. This is animation for the lost, with a stark style that matches the dark subject matter, and an overall feeling that some people will identify with from frame one. Watch it while you’re at work and you just might end up with a better appreciation of what you do for a living!

Here is an amazingly gorgeous slow motion captured video by Andrey Stvolinsky. The music by Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble helps give this video that added surreal noir factor that makes this video quite enjoyable. Also, here’s something fun to do while watching…look at the people’s eyes it’s quite trippy as they walk by but their eyes are fixed on you the viewer.

I can’t believe it took me this long to find the wonderful artwork of self-taught California artist Robert Connett. His surreal paintings are like a lot like H.R. Geiger’s if he had a dollop of humor.
