This Artist’s Mind Is Full Of Strange Spaces

When Lee Soonyoung’s imagination runs wild, bizarre living spaces are built that look like the backdrop for a Tim Burton movie.

If Lee doesn’t make it in the art world, she should definitely get into movie set construction, because these would make great settings for freaky films. Hit the DesignTAXI link below to check them all out, I hope none of them remind you of your own house!

Bregenz - Lake Stage

The Bregenz Festival brings opera to the shores of Lake Constance in Bregenz, Austria in July and August. They are now building the stage on the lake front, which is, as you can see, quite an enterprise. See more pictures of this fantastic stage and its meaning at Kuriositas. Link

Proposal On Stage with Robots

Posted by Miss Cellania in Entertainment, Robot on March 15, 2011 at 7:21 am

Chicago actress Nina O’Keefe is currently starring in the play Heddatron, which is about a woman who is kidnapped by robots. Her boyfriend, Erik Schroeder, works for a different theater company, but was called on stage for the curtain call because it was his 30th birthday. However, that was just a ruse.

After Sunday’s show, Schroeder was called up on stage, ostensibly so the cast, crowd and the robots involved in the play could sing happy birthday, but instead of receiving the birthday song — and prompted by a robot — Schroeder pulled out a ring and proposed to his girlfriend of six years (watch video below).

“It was my great grandmother’s sister’s ring,” said Schroeder. “She had to take off the costume ring she was wearing for the play, but I was lucky because it fit perfectly.”

And of course, O’Keefe said yes.

After which the robots serenaded the happy couple. The proposal was captured on video. Link -via Fark

15 Abandoned Theaters

Posted by Queuebot in Pictures on November 3, 2009 at 8:24 pm

Oobject captures the majesty and opulence that once defined theater archiecture, and the sadness of their current emptiness in this gallery of urban decay photography. The theater pictured here is in Hellingly Asylum, Sussex.

Theaters are a relic of the past. Don’t believe me? Look at drive-in movie theaters and the shakespearean stage. They simply don’t exist in modern America anymore, save for a relic or three buried in a small town somewhere. This list pays tribute to the thespians and films of the past century, to their writers and directors and to the actors who made them happen.
