Before LOLCats There Were Action Cats!

This commercial parody from Saturday Night Live in the early 1990s paved the way for future kittie videos to take the interwebs by storm, and it’s an ad for a  fake product I’d actually like to see sold in stores, especially around Halloween. It doesn’t get much better than armor clad cats battling it out with mini rocket launchers, oh wait, they glow in the dark?!

Scumbags Welcome At This Church

Posted by Tiffany in Advertising, Religion on March 4, 2011 at 4:00 pm

A Church in Florida is on a mission to bring scumbags closer to God.  Pastor Moses Robbins of the Saturday Night Live Church in Florida feels so strongly about his calling that he commissioned a billboard.   It simply states, “Scumbags Welcome!”

What’s on the agenda for his next billboard?

Robbins said he is planning to post another controversial message about sex within the next few months.

I guess we will have to wait and see if the next billboard lives up to the hype.

Zuckerberg-Eisenberg-Samberg: SNL Goes Meta

Posted by Miss Cellania in TV on January 30, 2011 at 5:05 am

We don’t often post about “what happened on TV last night,” but this is pretty neat. The host on Saturday Night Live was the actor who played Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in the movie The Social Network. His name is Jesse Eisenberg, and he’s up for an Oscar for the role. He is in the middle of this picture. Eisenberg was joined by SNL cast member Andy Samberg, who looks like Eisenberg, but is doing his Zuckerberg impression on the right in this picture. Then, Mark Zuckerberg himself crashed the monologue on the left. There had been speculation that if the three were ever in the same room, the universe would collapse. See the video clip at the Saturday Night Live website. Link -via The Daily What

Vintage Betty White

Posted by David in Everything Else on May 6, 2010 at 10:12 am

Unless you’ve been living in a cave, you already know Betty White is hosting SNL this weekend. (Please say you do!) To get you in the mood, our friends at GSN (Game Show Network) gave us an exclusive video they put together to salute the “Best of Betty White” from her classic appearances on Match Game. GSN will be showing a Betty White Marathon on Saturday, May 8—just hours before White makes her first-ever appearance as host of Saturday Night Live. The seven-hour, 14-episode marathon will spotlight the brilliant comedic timing that has earned White 18 Emmy nominations and six wins over the course of her career. So be sure to tune in from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. (ET). Meantime, enjoy these hilarious scenes!

The SNL Fiver-Timer Club

Posted by Miss Cellania in Everything Else on January 21, 2009 at 12:46 pm

Since 1975, twelve people have hosted Saturday Night Live five times or more. Today’s Lunchtime Quiz at mental_floss challenges you to name them. How many can you think of in three minutes? I named six, but I also wasted a lot of time entering names that weren’t in “the club.” Link

Orchestral Doogie Howser

Posted by Stacy in Video Clips on January 12, 2009 at 10:17 pm

I don’t remember to watch Saturday Night Live very often, but I’m glad I remembered to last weekend because I was completely delighted by this Digital Short of Neil Patrick Harris and the cast jamming out to the Doogie Howser, M.D. theme song. However, I woke up with that song stuck in my head both yesterday morning and this morning. Consider yourself warned.

Mr. Bill and his fam celebrate the holidays, too… as you can imagine, his holidays are slightly more violent than ours. With special guest appearance by Father Guido Sarducci!
