The Hawking Tattoo
Jack Newton, 23, is one big fan of physicist Stephen Hawking. So much so that he decided to get his right leg tattooed with Hawking’s face after reading A Brief History of Time – even though he didn’t understand a word of it!
The tattoo – complete with a Monty Python line from the classic Life of Brian film ‘He’s not the messiah. He’s a very naughty boy’ written underneath it – has already won two trophies at tattoo conventions.
Mr Newton said: "I read A Brief History of Time, but to be honest I didn’t understand a word, but I respect the man and that’s why I got his face tattooed on my leg.

Science Tattoo Blog
Since Carl Zimmer of The Loom began collecting science tattoos, we’ve featured several on Neatorama (here, here, and here). He’s collected so many that he moved them out of Flickr and launched a new site called Carl Zimmer’s Science Tattoo Emporium. If you have a science tat, you’re invited to submit a picture and the story behind it. Link -Thanks, Carl!
Update 7/31/08 – New link for Carl’s science tattoos collection: Link – Thanks Andrew!
A Most Useful Tattoo

Carl Zimmer’s collection of science tattoo photos (reported previously on Neatorama) is growing. There are now 119 submitted tattoos! This eight inch forearm ruler from Mikey is so handy, he uses it every day. Link
DNA Tattoo

Since Carl Zimmer at The Loom asked about people with science tattoos (reported previously on Neatorama), he has received over 70 submissions for his Flickr set. Especially worth noting is this tattoo of an intricately-detailed strand of DNA on Matthew MacDougall, a 4th year med student. Link

Science Tattoos.

Carl Zimmer at The Loom saw a scientist friend with a DNA tattoo (with a great hidden meaning) and wondered how common scientific tattoos are. The response was surprising -readers sent him quite a few photographs, which he posted. This one is the DNA Monster. Link -via Metafilter
