Super Mario Raccoon Rug

Posted by John Farrier in Arts & Crafts, Toy & Video Games on July 25, 2009 at 4:49 pm

Craftster member enemyairship created this 7 by 7 foot rug of Mario in raccoon form:

He’s made of 386 granny squares, each one representing 1 pixel (3.5″ each) that makes up Raccoon Mario. I learned to crochet in February by watching youtube videos and recently watched another video for granny squares and got started on this project right away. I had originally thought that it would take me over 1 month to complete if I made about 10 granny squares per day.

Gummy Bear Chandelier

Posted by Stacy in Arts & Crafts, Home & Garden on January 16, 2009 at 10:32 pm

Wow. I’m pretty sure I’d eat this in a weak moment. But it looks pretty awesome. I wonder if it attracts bugs?

There’s a “bear” rug, too, which is funny, but probably not functional. Just thinking about stepping on a rug made of gummy bears kind of squicks me out a little.

World's Largest Sand Carpet

Posted by Jill Harness in Arts & Crafts, Everything Else, World Records on January 7, 2009 at 9:55 pm

This Persian rug is made of colored sand and is located beside the Straight of Hormuz. Life In The Fast Lane has some great images of the “carpet” being assembled as well as some largest sand carpets of the past and some neat sand sculptures.
