River Rock Balancing

Posted by John Farrier in Art & Design on August 10, 2011 at 5:01 pm

Michael Grab is an artist who works in an unusual medium: balanced rocks. He stacks rocks from rivers on top of each other with no additional connections. It is a meditative act for him, as well as an exploration of “notions of impermanence and death.” Check out his gallery at the link. Link -via Boing Boing (where there’s a video)

The Valley of the Moon

Posted by Miss Cellania in Pictures, Science & Tech, Travel on November 28, 2010 at 3:11 am

Ischigualasto, meaning “the place where you put the moon” is a remote valley in Argentina. The valley’s once-fertile ground is now arid and contains so many plant and animal fossils that paleontologists come from all over the world to study them. Link
