When Star Wars Meets Tank Girl

Posted by Jill Harness in Art, Art & Design, Comics & Cartoons, Entertainment, Film, Science Fiction on January 27, 2012 at 9:54 pm

Falcon Girl is artist James Hance’s wonderful mash up of Princess Leia and Tank Girl. I don’t know about you guys, but I kind of want to see this become a whole comic book instead of just a cool poster.

An Awesome Star Wars Wedding

Posted by Jill Harness in Entertainment, Film, Science Fiction on November 18, 2011 at 12:38 am

Princess Leia, say it ain’t so -he may be hardcore, but he’s not only evil, he’s also your father! Well, it still looks pretty darn awesome either way.

Princess Leia Has Really Let Herself Go

I wonder if Jabba will even consider taking her back at this point. At least lose the chest hair

Back At The Skywalker Home…

Posted by Jill Harness in Art & Design, Comics & Cartoons, Entertainment, Film, Science Fiction on October 1, 2011 at 4:44 pm

This cartoon, that Geeks Are Sexy rightfully titled “You’re A Skywalker, Not A Street Walker,” just goes to show how everyone’s adolescent years are pretty much the same -even Princesses.

Slave Girl Leia Manatee

Posted by John Farrier in Art & Design, Crafts on September 5, 2011 at 11:26 am

Craftster member erica_tattoos made a pair of embroidery hoops depicting Princess Leia and Jabba the Hutt. My brilliant idea: the original trilogy should be re-shot with manatees.

Photographic Proof of Leia’s Affair With Chewie

Posted by Jill Harness in Art & Design, Entertainment, Film, Photography, Science Fiction on August 17, 2011 at 2:50 pm

Sure Leia was always flirting with Han, but it was easy to see her eyes shooting longing looks of love over to Chewbacca, so it’s not all that surprising to see photographic evidence of their affair being made public all these years later.

Princess Leia Cupcakes

Posted by Jill Harness in Entertainment, Film, Food & Drink, Living, Science Fiction on July 26, 2011 at 12:01 am

This is my last Star Wars post today, I promise. But just look at how cute this Princess Leia cupcake is. Best of all, it’s super easy to make with just a little black frosting, a few Oreos and pink sprinkles.

Ladies, Don’t Be Just Another Slave Girl

(Video Link)

Just in time for Comic Con, this Break.com PSA reminds ladies that there are more sexy female cosplay costumes besides the classic princess Leia salve outfit. We’ll soon see if this has any impact on the female cosplayers visiting the convention this year, but honestly, there is always a ton of variety at the convention.

Well, sure. But are those the correct model blasters?

Princess Leia/Vespa Headphones

Posted by John Farrier in Art & Design, Crafts, Entertainment, Science Fiction on May 27, 2011 at 5:25 pm

Whether they remind you of Princess Leia’s hair buns or Princess Vespa’s headphones (Spaceballs), redditor Jacquielonglegs did a great job with this craft project. She wonders if she should sell the set. Would you buy them?

Awesome Minimalist Star Wars Posters

Posted by The Dude in Art, Film, Science Fiction on February 9, 2011 at 8:37 pm

Yep. it’s another batch of fan-made Star Wars posters. You probably think these get reported on a lot, but the truth is there are like a billion of these created daily, the percentage of them that actually get coverage is tiny. It’s a crowded field, and the Internets only really stand up and take notice for the truly awesome ones, like these very cool new posters which take the focus off of Luke, Han and Vader, and instead shine the spotlight on the Mos Eisley cantina – and on a bold, beautiful Leia.

The sassy senator has been portrayed many different ways in the original Star Wars trilogy: virginal, strident and sexy. But Leia’s rarely been as boldly retro as in this series of posters.

Hungarian illustrator Szoki crafted these images, as well as studies of various denizens of Mos Eisley’s cantina, for his “personal enjoyment,” and they look a bit like fashion illustrations from ’60s magazines like Vogue.

Armored Cat

Posted by John Farrier in Animals & Pets, Living on January 26, 2011 at 6:18 pm

Your cat doesn’t have a helmet? Why not? deviantART user Diarment made one for his cat Hugo. It’s reminiscent of Princess Leia’s slave girl costume, if Leia had been a cat.

Jabba the Hutt Serenity Prayer Cross Stitch

Posted by John Farrier in Art & Design, Crafts on October 22, 2010 at 2:05 pm

I’m at a loss to explain precisely why, but somehow this cross stitch featuring Jabba the Hutt, Princess Leia as his slave, and the Serenity Prayer makes perfect sense. It was made by Emily and Matt Fitzpatrick. Their website is filled with similar cross stitch samplers inspired by pop culture.

What to Do on a Space Date

Posted by John Farrier in Entertainment, Science Fiction, Video Clips on October 6, 2010 at 5:57 am

(Video Link)

YouTube user OneMinuteGalactica remixed scenes from Star Wars with audio from a 1950s-era teen hygiene film about dating. Luke wants to ask Leia out on a date. How should he do it? What should they do together? This film advises young Jedi on how to have a good first date experience.
