Would You Like to Lick a Popsicle Shaped Like David Hasselhoff?

Posted by John Farrier in Food & Drink, Living on June 15, 2011 at 4:37 pm

I guess that’s a dumb question. Of course you would! So, anticipating this widespread desire, Del Monte created a Hasselhoff-shaped popsicle for National Ice Cream Month. It’s called the Hoffsicle.

Truly, we live in age of wonders. Link -via Vodkapundit | Photo: Del Monte

$1000 Popsicle

Posted by John Farrier in Food & Drink, Living on May 12, 2011 at 4:32 am

The Marquis Los Cabos resort in Mexico now offers a thousand-dollar popsicle. What makes it so pricey? It’s made with 24-carat gold flakes and a luxury band of tequila that costs $1500 a bottle.

The icy treat is served poolside on a classic plastic stick and has a little sugar in it to take the edge off, though salt would seem to be more appropriate.

The patrician popsicle joins a world of fantasy foods that includes the $1,000 pizza served at Nino’s Bellisima restaurant in New York and the $1,200 Mai Tai mixed up at the the Merchant Hotel in Belfast, Ireland.

Beer Popsicle

Posted by Miss Cellania in Food & Drink on August 30, 2010 at 7:04 am

New York restaurant Diablo Royale Este serves a dessert called The Hopsicle Experience. It’s a frozen can of beer on a stick!

Now, the thing about the hopsicle is that it looks like your standard can of Tecate: Red. Cylindrical. Icy cold. Except the barman-witchdoctors at Diablo have taken the “icy” bit quite literally, injecting the beer with simple syrup and lime juice, jamming a wooden stick into the hole of the can and then putting it in the freezer. For four days.

The result is a genuine beer popsicle, which the bartender must saw in half with a serrated steak knife (or samurai sword) to open. Then it’s up to you to push the wooden stick upward to dispense the hopsicle in true Push Pop style, and decide if you want your savory sweet frozen joyride bathed in tequila as well (note: you want this).

Could you recreate this at home? Be sure whoever is wielding the sword is completely sober! Link -via Rue the Day

License to Chill: Daniel Craig-Shaped Popsicle

Posted by Alex in Film, Food & Drink on June 22, 2009 at 10:19 pm

OK, we’re way behind on this news but I think its sheer strangeness will help overcome our tardiness: food company Del Monte asked 1,000 British women which celebrity is the coolest and James Bond star Daniel Craig won the vote. So, true to their words, Del Monte made a Daniel Craig-shaped popsicle!

Del Monte Superfruit Smoothies, who produced the limited edition replica lollies, said artists ‘worked tirelessly’ to recreate a sculpture of 41-year-old Craig in the scene where he emerges from the sea in Casino Royale.

‘Daniel Craig topped our poll of Britain’s coolest celebrities and thanks to our Del Monte lolly replica he is officially immortalised as super smooth and licensed to chill,’ said spokesman Matt O’Connor.

Silly women, I’d have picked Ricky Gervais. More popsicle that way.
