Siri Cole’s pony named Pixie has gone missing from Queen Creek, Arizona. She should be easy to spot in a crowd, even of crowd of ponies, because her mane and tail are bright pink.
Siri Cole runs a unique business, Charming Party Ponies. She owns petite little ponies, available for rent at parties and festivals.
Pixie is a 10-year-old white Welsh pony mare, Cole’s prized possession.
“I love her, she’s really dear to me,” she says. “I really want her back.”
Pixie performed Saturday night at a festival offering rides to children. She was put away in her stall about 9 p.m. The next morning, she was nowhere to be found.
Cole believes someone must have taken Pixie. Link -via Arbroath

We’re big on unusual and beautiful aquatica around here at Neatorama, and today is no different. The pink dolphin of South America is an interesting creature–it lacks the dorsal fin of its more familiar bottle-nosed cousin, and has unfused neck vertebrae, allowing it to make a quick 180º turn from predators. You can see their pink coloring is mottled, with each dolphin sporting its own pattern of pink and grey. Check out more pics and lots of info about the Amazon River Dolphin on the Ark in Space. Link

A litter of kittens was dumped at a concrete factory in Redruth, Cornwall, England. They were taken to an animal shelter named Cats Protection. The staff fed the kittens and washed them, but one is still stained pink -and will be until her fur grows out. So they named her Pink Panther!
She was rescued by workers along with her two sisters and a tom cat – called Clouseau, Dusty and Cerise. It is thought that they came into contact with red pigment used in concrete manufacturing which had caused their unusual appearance.
The dying is less obvious in three of the cats but Pink Panther has a creamy fur so she appears bright pink.
Attempts have been made to wash the dye out because different variations of red are seen as ‘danger colours’ to animals but they failed.
Instead, Cats Protection manager Claire Rowe says they will have to wait until the pink fur has grown out.
She said:’They are absolutely adorable, but Pink Panther is probably the pick of the bunch. It’s amazing. Until we washed her we had no idea what her natural colour was.

Brothers Will and Matt Burrard-Lucas were on a trip to the Masai Mara in Kenya where they spotted an unusually pink baby hippo sunning along the riverbanks!
The hippo was clearly a young one since it was much smaller than the others in the group. It was also very shy and tended to stick close to its mother. To avoid frightening it off, we used a long 600mm lens to photograph it from a distance. Nevertheless, it only stayed ashore for few minutes before returning to the safety of the river. Thereafter we caught fleeting glimpses of it as it came up to breathe.

Over the weekend, a cat in Swindon, England was turned over to the RSPCA in a suspected case of abuse because it had been dyed bright pink. The shelter found the cat to be in good health, and could see that whoever dyed it had taken care to keep the dye out of the cat’s face, leaving a white mask effect. Now the cat’s owner, 22-year-old Natasha Gregory, has stepped forward and admitted she dyed the cat with food coloring to match her own pink hair.
“It’s my favourite colour, I love it. I’ve dyed my hair pink and I adore pink clothes. Turning Oi! Kitty pink seemed like a good idea. I always wanted a pink animal – a bit like my hair.
“I read the instructions on the food colouring and there was nothing that would harm humans or animals. We eat the food the dye is used on, so I knew it wasn’t toxic.”
Miss Gregory has now contacted the RSPCA, who have been caring for Oi! Kitting, to ask them to return the animal. Officers have washed the cat since it was found, and its colour has faded slightly.

It’s not a weather anomaly, but an art project. Stevie Famulari used a weed sprayer to paint the snow on her Fargo lawn pink!
Famulari is an environmental artist and a landscape architecture professor at North Dakota State University.
She changes the color of her snow with each new layer that falls. She plans to paint the next snowfall a purplish blue and the one after that will be black.
She chose her colors to become darker as the season progresses. When the snow melts, she expects the older layers to be revealed.
Famulari says she will not paint the snow yellow. Oh yes, she also paints her lawn in the summer. Link -via Unique Daily

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so you’ll see a lot of items produced in pink. Some product tie-ins will make you scratch your head and smile trying to figure out how they might have anything to do with breast cancer. Most likely, the people in charge of these companies are committed to the cause and this is the best way they can show it. Still, how can you see a pink cement mixer and not do a double take? National Geographic Traveler’s Intelligent Travel (and now Neatorama) blogger Marilyn Terrell just came back from a trip to the Yukon Territory in Canada. Naturally, she’s got lots of stories about her adventure, the fascinating ecology of the Yukon and so on and so forth.
But since I’m stuck here in the ‘burbs, my jealous brain wouldn’t allow me to properly process all her stories save this tiny but golden nugget of trivia that will forever be with me till the day I die: Bear poop can be pink.
This image is not photoshopped. This is a rare albino dolphin found in a salt water lake just north of the Gulf of Mexico. Captain Erik Rue who first saw the pink dolphin says it seems quite healthy:
“Surprisingly, it does not appear to be drastically affected by the environment or sunlight as might be expected considering its condition, although it tends to remain below the surface a little more than the others in the pod.”
