Deep Fried Baconnaise

Nick of DudeFoods deep fried balls of bacon mayonnaise. He started out by freezing baconnaise in an ice cube tray, then wrapping each cube with wonton wrappers. After deep frying and eating the balls, he referred to them as “absolutely terrible.” Presumably he means that in a good way.

The Man Who Saved Lives With Mayonnaise

s.

Documentary filmmaker Philippe Mora tells how his father (aka Mr. Mayonnaise) worked with the French Resistance and mime, Marcel Marceau, (pictured above with Mora), to rescue refugee children during WW2.

His father, who had escaped from Germany after the book-burning, noticed German soldiers would never search sandwiches containing mayonnaise in case drips stained their uniforms.

So the Resistance wrapped the identity papers of Jewish children being smuggled over borders in greaseproof paper, smeared them with mayonnaise and inserted them into sandwiches.

Bacon Mayonnaise?

Posted by Stacy in Food & Drink on February 23, 2009 at 7:16 pm

…Bayo, perhaps? Whatever it’s called, Ryan Farr from Best by Farr (this is his picture, by the way) has whipped up a batch of either the most wonderful or most evil culinary creation ever. He cooked up some bacon fat and then rendered until all of the fat was clarified. Then he strained and separated the fat and used it to make mayonnaise – bacon-flavored mayonnaise. What do you think?
