Now that's 3D! For the upcoming Mario Kart 7 video game, Nintendo teamed up with West Coast Customs to create a real-life, drivable karts:
Two life-sized replicas of the Mario Kart cars driven by Nintendo icons Mario and Luigi, working vehicles that the company debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show this past week.
That's right: Working. Built by West Coast Customs, the two karts – identical to those gamers will be able to digitally drive come the December 4 launch of Mario Kart 7 for the Nintendo 3DS – are electric vehicles that can actually be driven around. And some lucky gamers will get the chance to do just that, as Nintendo plans to give away both karts as part of a Gamestop PowerUp Rewards promotion during December.

In the new Super Mario 3D Land game, Mario has special abilities when he wears the Tanooki Suit - but think about it. Where did he get such a suit? From a dead Tanooki, a Japanese raccoon dog, of course!
PETA, understandably, is upset over the unnecessary killing of an imaginary videogame character and has made its displeasure known by releasing this fun little Flash game: Mario Kills Tanooki - Thanks Jay!
Now here’s an impressive kid’s playset. Cia of DeerDot made this impressive four-story structure for her son to play with so he could play Mario brothers without actually turning on a gaming system. The detailed pictures at the link are definitely worth a look, so be sure you click away.
If Donkey Kong wasn’t a giant gorilla, but rather a lowly office worker whose promotion was given to a moustachioed employee named Mario, then the situation would probably play out just as it does in this spoof movie trailer for “Mr. Kong”. It’s a good thing nobody took his stapler!

When I was a youngster, I was really bad at gaming. On occasion, I got so frustrated that I would just try to kill my character as fast as possible or in the most original way possible. That’s why I was so impressed with this new record for lowest score achieved through the entire Mario game. It takes bad playing to a whole new level.

Many of us find ourselves working multiple jobs, even balancing simultaneous careers – but nobody has a LinkedIn profile like Mario! From plumber to doctor to race car driver, and even competing in the Olympics! Against a hedgehog, granted, but still, it’s impressive stuff.
Times are tough and jobs are scarce — unless you’re a video game icon. You might know Mario as a portly plumber, but the hardest-working mascot in video games has worn all sorts of hats over his 30-year career. And for our sake, we hope he never retires. Check out some of his coolest jobs.
