The highly-anticipated Lord of the Rings LEGO line was unveiled at a party in conjunction with the International Toy Fare 2012 in New York. Or, at least most of the sets. The Hobbit set is still under wraps. But representatives from TheOneRing.net were there and took pictures. The sets themselves, which feature Lord of the Rings minifigures, are expected to be introduced in stores starting in June. See more photographs in their report. Link -via The Daily What Geek

If you put all ten together they spill out the entire inscription put on the inside of the classic One Ring. I don’t know about you other geek gals, but I’d love to wear these to a fancy dress occasion…they’re practically jewelry after all.

You’ve seen the eye of Sauron back piece, but this one chest piece truly captures the epicness of the film and book series with its amazing detail and vivid colors.

The amazing prop creation team over at Kropserkel created this fantastic set of armor and a variety of others as potential Nazgul armor. You could even commission them to custom make your own set of Lord of the Rings Armor, how cool is that?

It appears J.K. Rowling was more than a little inspired by Tolkien’s classic fantasy series the Lord Of The Rings when writing her Harry Potter series, and this cute chart aims to prove it by illustrating the similarities between the characters and plot points in both series.
Check out all 4 sections of the chart at the link below, and see for yourself how Harry Potter literally owes his life to J.R.R. Tolkien.
At least, not without a lot of nail painting skills. Apparently her other hand features the armies of Gondor, but since they didn’t come out well with her camera, she left out those pictures.

It takes a steady hand and a lot of planning to make your pumpkin into the one ring, but I’d say the effort is certainly worth the great result.

I know we’ve posted a few cool Lord of the Rings LEGO creations before, but this 8′ wide model of Isengard might just be the most impressive one yet. Built by LEGO masters OneLUG, this monstrosity weighs over 145 pounds and uses 22,000 bricks.

We have featured some posts on real life hobbit houses in the past but now you can rent hobbit house for only $245 a night in Montana. While the exterior is an “authentic” looking replica of the hobbit dwelling, the inside boasts modern human amenities including HD TV and Wi-Fi. What other houses based on literature and film should be created? What would you stay in?
Here’s Adam Savage singing “I Will Survive” in Gollum’s voice while Neil Gaiman tries not to laugh. That is all.
There have been some pretty neat LEGO replicas but this iconic tower from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy really impressive. Let’s just hope it’s not functioning.
Kevin Walter made this absolutely amazing LEGO Barad-Dûr for Brickworld 2011. I’d be curious to know how many pieces he used to make the tower, but the only details I got from his Flickr account is that the construction measures 175cm tall.
DeviantArt user Ferret42′s Speedking of Angmar is a seamless blend of two of the greatest movie epics to ever grace the silver screen. Fantasy and sci-fi have never gone so well together.
Have you ever wished you could shut yourself off from the world so you could catch up on playing video games? Jordan Wayne Long has taken this thought to the next level shipping himself from Arkansas to Oregon in a crate while playing Lord of The Rings Online.
Long’s friend Bradi Roberts will be transporting him on her truck, so he won’t be going through any kind of actual postal system, nor have to sign up for an Amazon credit card in order to get free shipping. Long plans to update the interested masses via his Twitter and has also created a blog to cover his week of playing LOTRO in a box, which should barely be any different from playing it in his room. I kid, MMO gamers, because I love. Long’s experiment is planned to take place between July 1 to July 7, and end at a Portland art gallery.
Remember "Alice," the electronic music video remixed from sounds from the animated film Alice in Wonderland? Well, pogo (Nick Bertke) is back, this time with a remix of Lord of the Rings.

The movie set that was once the Shire in The Lord of The Rings trilogy, has since been taken over by sheep. Although still a tourist attraction, those visiting the former Hobbit homes in New Zealand must take precaution of the new residents.

This video by Andrés Borghi of Argentina won the "Your Big Break" competition from 100% Pure New Zealand. The slogan for the competition was: ‘Capture the spirit of 100% Pure New Zealand – the youngest country on earth’. This video certainly conveys that idea!

Randall Munroe of xkcd has posted intricate movie graphs that help explain the sequence of characters for those who have trouble figuring out what went on over a long narrative. The most helpful is the largest graph, which deals with the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Grouping of lines shows which characters are together over time. There are also graphs for the original Star Wars trilogy, Jurassic Park, 12 Angry Men, and Primer. Only a small portion of the LOTR graph is shown here. Link -via reddit
