You can’t take this kitty cat to a regular pet groomer. No, lion wrangler Alex Larenty has to take care of that job, and he has to do it every day. Watch him brush the hair and file the claws on this 250 kg lion.

Who knew big cats were so into pizza?…Or at least the residual smell of it left on the boxes.

Did you know snakes and hamsters can be friends? Or cats and crows? Or pigs and tigers? Ok, these friendships might not be common, but the do happen. Cracked has a great list of animal friendships that could make writers of Disney movies feel ashamed of their lack of ingenuity.
Last year, the folks at Big Cat Rescue showed us how big cats react to catnip. Here they investigate another burning question: will big cats chase a laser dot the way house cats do? Let’s hide and watch. -via The Daily What

From a one-ton crocodile that may have killed 300 people to a leopard who munched on 250 different victims, this list of man-eating beasts is fascinating although a bit depressing.
Have you ever seen a grown lion look so cute and innocent as this one trying to break through the glass to get his rubber ducky?
Shanta, a lioness who lives who lives at the Cedar Cove Feline Sanctuary in Kansas, is seen here dozing on her handler, Steve. But really, if a lion is using you as bedding, I don’t think that you can legitimately claim to be her “handler”. The relationship has been reversed at some point.

A few of humanity’s worst citizens – poachers – snuck in to the Kruger National Park in South Africa in the middle of the night. They’d planned on checking traps, but instead found themselves in the deadly gaze of angry hippopotamuses. Hippos are the animal kingdom’s number one killer of humans in Africa, so the men scattered. Two made it out alive; the third’s remains were found, ostensibly devoured by lions.
This story should serve as a cautionary tale for any would-be poachers considering a career in illegal wildlife trade. While authorities may have their hands full when it comes to stopping [them], there remains a more natural form of justice, lurking among the wildlife so often pillaged–and in this case justice, like dinner, was served.
