This Korean report follows a hand that has all the moves. I don’t understand Korean, but the comments at YouTube indicate the puppeteer is a high school girl. Watch this little fighter try to split a board! -via Buzzfeed
The elderly women who dive for seafood off the island of Jeju, Korea, are called haenyo, which means “sea women.” They are carrying on a century-old tradition that began when women realized they could bring home the seafood without paying the taxes that would be levied on men in the same profession. It is a declining way of life, which explains why the remaining haenyo are elderly. Read more about them and see more photos at Kuriositas. Link

This video is an ad for the Korean chain Mr. Pizza. Viewers said this must be a product of a US agency, as Korean advertising is rarely humorous or self-deprecating. It seems they are right. Link -via Metafilter
If you were like me and avoided studying at the library in college because it was too intense, then you wouldn’t want to visit Exam Ville in South Korea. One poor guy has been there for five years repeatedly trying to get into law school.

South Koreans have some of the longest work hours in the world, which makes it difficult for them to go grocery shopping. Oobject does it again with another brilliant list comprised of 15 of the world’s most magnificent (and FAST) high speed trains and railways. Simply a must see.
In America, we’re used to driving. In fact, we thrive on it. However, in other countries, high speed rail is a key factor in getting people where they need to be. Some trains in existence can cover an entire country in a matter of hours, while the best we have is Amtrak’s Acela Express, a service that the Japanese and French laugh at for hours on end. Explore the world of high speed railways with us and be sure to vote on your favorite.
