Best home decor item for a gaming room ever? I think so. Sadly, this retro rug offered by Etsy seller WTCrafts is all sold out, though it looks like she makes them to order, so maybe if you asked her nicely…

If you’re looking for a little home-decor inspiration but don’t want to spend a fortune on materials, this great WebEcoist article has a great collection of easy-to-make and eco-friendly crafts to help you spruce up your home. While I love the look of the lace lanterns, I have to say the most functional would probably be the cork bath rug.

Gentrification has made the already sky-high cost of rent in New York astronomical. So if you want to live here, you’ve got to be be either rich or creative. Brooklyn resident Daniel Arsham – now he’s creative.
The apartment’s a loft attached to the offices of Snarkitecture, the cool-kid architecture firm where Arsham is a partner, and it’s basically just a room that serves two functions: sleeping and dressing. But oh, what a room it is.
The walls look like great big, pixelated screens that fade from gray to white as you approach the ceiling. On closer inspection, the pixels are actually ping-pong balls — a whopping 25,000 of ‘em. We half expect someone to come out and call a Powerball winner.
The rest of the place is a study in simplicity. Arsham’s got a bed with some built-in shelves and a dresser, where he keeps a few clothes. To enter the loft, he climbs a ladder through the office’s employee bathroom.
You see beautiful rooms in catalogs and magazines and you have to wonder about people who would live in such artistic perfection. The blog Catalog Living gives you a glimpse into the life of those who live in those places. It’s not always pretty. The caption to the above picture is:
Elaine was not amused by Gary’s passive-aggressive response to her request to “garnish the cocktails.”
