This 1979 Dodge Ram Van, for sale on eBay, is a discreet, unobtrusive way of conveying your support for the Rebel Alliance. The interior isn’t equipped for the full Star Wars experience, but think of that as a project that you can work on. The exterior is enough to give you the lifestyle that you crave:

What happens when a top-secret government project is canceled? The details are not quite clear, but it’s hard to keep a secret when prototype parts are sold for scrap and end up on eBay.
Anyone interested in top secret aircraft will know of the A-12 Avenger II, which was cancelled in 1991 and remains at the centre of ongoing litigation to this day. The stealth attack aircraft, developed by General Dynamics and McDonnell Douglas, was terminated before the first airframe had been assembled. But the latest twist in this still-shadowy tale comes in the form of an A-12 canopy appearing on eBay – and it looks like the real thing.

In a lovely design juxtaposition, this custom motorcycle features a pair of jet engines mounted to a frame modeled after a 1929 Harley-Davidson design. It can reach 200 MPH, and in truly Harley fashion, does so loudly. This bike, which the owner claims is the only one in the world powered with two jet engines, is currently for sale on eBay.
To be fair, I’m not entirely sure that a velvet painting of Admiral Ackbar belongs in an article titled “10 Crazy Pieces of Crap On eBay Right Now.” Personally, I think it’s pretty awesome. Even so, a lot of the other items certainly do belong there. Check out the rest over on Oddee.
An eBay seller has this photograph up for the “buy it now” price of a million dollars. It looks suspiciously like the star of Raising Arizona and Leaving Las Vegas.

This lovely engraved hard hat of unknown origin is up for sale on eBay. It’s decorated with images of offshore oil drilling work:
Hello, up for auction is a vintage/antique B.F. McDonald engraved/hand hammered hard hat. Fantastic oil drilling themed hat. The hat has off-shore oil rigs all around the sides and a helicopter towards the top/front and a helicopter landing pad around the back. The metal work is stunning. Signed “Wisna” on the top center (5th photo down). The interior straps are plastic, with vinyl on the front where it touches the forehead. Hat is stamped “McDonald – T – Cap Standard – Mine Safety Appliances CO.” on the interior bill (10th photo down). It looks as though someones name used to be on the front, as many of these hats do, and it got incorporated into the design – see second photo below.

Although it lacks the refinement of a Geo Metro, a 1970 Oldsmobile Toronado station wagon isn’t a bad foundation for a limousine. This was one of several dozen built during the defunct custom car builder Miller-Meteor, a company perhaps best known for making the Ghostbusters’ Ecto-1. It recently sold on eBay for $3,000. The seller pushed it as a tool for picking up women, and it’s obviously well-designed for that purpose. Right, ladies?
If you keep up with Neatorama, then you probably recall Miss C’s post about the Urine-Free Charity Auction. Essentially, D.H. Morgan posted a used wetsuit on eBay and to emphasize that it had never been peed in, he included this brilliant image. The picture went viral and Morgan volunteered to give 90% of the proceeds to the Red Cross’s work in Japan. Soon, the auction started getting a lot more bids and sponsors started throwing in free surfboards, concert tickets, shoes, a brand new wetsuit and more.
In the end, the auction ended up pulling in over $15,000 in bids…unfortunately, the winning bidder refused to pay up and the second place winner wouldn’t take the Second Chance Offer. That left Morgan with tons of free stuff that wasn’t really his to keep and left the Red Cross out of a huge donation.
In order to correct the problem, he has opted to host a massive charity raffle for the prizes. Tickets are only £2.50 and the prizes total more than $1000. The only down side is that this time he’s only giving 70%, apparently because the raffles cost more to run and he needs money to fix the exhaust on his car.
Even so, it’s still a good chance to donate money to a good cause and possibly win a boatload of free stuff. Plus, included in the raffle prize is the opportunity to hang out with Morgan and a bear (presumably someone in a bear suit, not an actual bear).

Here’s a tale of an eBay sale that grew and grew. British diver D.H. Morgan posted a wetsuit for sale. In his colorful description, he emphasized that the suit had never been peed in -and posted a picture of a bear at a urinal to somehow drive that point home. The bear picture made the auction go viral, so he changed it to a charity auction (language warning).
This listing for my urine-free wetsuit is getting a lot of unexpected attention which is nice but I’m feeling I should do something positive with all the ‘f*cking energy man’, so I’ve decided to give 90% of the money it makes to the Red Cross to aid their efforts in Japan. That sounds all ‘oh look at me I’m so nice I’m giving to charity’ doesn’t it… yeah well p*ss off.
But what! There’s more!
Just got off the phone to XCEL wetsuits in Hawaii, who are very kindly donating a BRAND NEW 2011 Drylock wetsuit to the auction, it will remain a 3/2 (summer) but will be available in a range of sizes to suit the winning bidder. So now, in addition to the original p*ss free suit, you’ll also get a brand spanker, but still no bears or doors, just TWO wetsuits free of urine, one old and knackered (m) and one lovely and new (any size).
After that, the auction snowballed. Different companies have added a lot more merchandise, like a watch, boots, surfboard, books, and concert tickets. Morgan created a separate website called bears don’t wear wetsuits to handle questions and correspondence about the auction. As of this writing, the bidding stands at £9,300.00, which is $15K US. It’s a dilemma that we’ve all faced: you need to take a bath, but you need to get somewhere at the same time. eBay seller toymaker46 offers this solution. He notes that it’s not yet fully operational, so you’ll have to work on it some.
Our little friend from Star Wars is hot! This sculpture is a wood burning heater hand-crafted from steel gas bottles. From what I can tell, UK eBay seller kidsrusje has built other artful stoves. R2D2 is one of a kind, and is for sale to the highest bidder. Link -via the Presurfer

Rick Dobbertin, a custom car builder, made this amphibious vehicle. The HydroCar is now up for auction on eBay. Tom Joslin of Jalopnik describes the car and explains why Dobbertin may have chosen to sell it:
The vehicle actually changes shape, lowering and extending pontoons when you switch it from land mode to water mode. The tunnel hulled HydroCar is propelled by a 572 Cubic inch Big Block Chevy that produces 762 horsepower.
While the HydroCar is clearly well built, after nine years and 18,800 hours, the custom vehicle is still not quite done. Several videos included in the auction show that while the HydroCar is improving as a result of testing, Dobbertin has been unable to get the boat to plane. Without being on plane the boat can’t come anywhere close to the estimate of the HydroCar’s 60 MPH water capability.

Ford never offered the Mustang as a station wagon, but that didn’t stop car modders from creating their own:
The story goes that in 1966 Italian coach builder Intermeccanica built a Mustang station wagon for advertiser Barney Clark and designer Bob Cumberford which showed up in many car magazines of the day. Supposedly Ford had a Mustang wagon in design stages around the same time but scrapped the program shortly after the Intermeccania cars appeared. The Intermeccania cars are often mistaken for a factory concept.

Think a minute -when did the first remote-control robot hit the market? It was way back in 1957 in Japan. This is a Radicon Robot, still in good shape 53 years later. I ask because it’s for sale on eBay. The toilet was removed from the late author’s New Hampshire home by the new owners in the 1980s. It hasn’t been cleaned yet, so it’s super-authentic. You can bid for it or buy it immediately for $1,000,000.

Graphic designer Ellie Koning made a large infographic filled with facts about eBay. Did you know that the first item to sell on eBay was a broken laser pointer? The final price was $14.83.
You may recall the story of the guy who sold the Nintendo game Stadium Events for $41,300. Other old video games can be sold for ridiculous amounts not because of any intrinsic value, but because of their documented rarity. For example, a cartridge containing Nintendo Campus Challenge is the only existing copy.
In the early 1990s, Nintendo held competitions on college campuses and at popular Spring Break destinations. Like the World Championships, players had six minutes to play for high scores on demo versions of Super Mario Bros. 3, PinBot, and Dr. Mario.
Most copies of the game were destroyed after the competition ended, but one Nintendo employee kept his cart and sold it to Rob Walters at a garage sale in 2006.

Ken Bannister, founder of the International Banana Club Museum, is selling out. The price of the museum has dropped from $45,000 to only $15,000! Before you snap up that bargain, be aware that the museum includes only the banana artifacts but no real estate, as the museum has been housed in rented space.
Bannister told the Victorville Daily Press that he decided to liquidate the collection after the Hesperia Recreation and Park District told him that he would no longer be able to rent space at the Harrison Exhibit Building in Hesperia, California where Bannister exhibited his thousands of banana goodies. He did not have another location set up and does not want to put the items in storage.
The Guiness Book of World Records says that the museum is the world’s largest collection devoted to any one fruit. Since the 1970s Bannister has done many interviews on his unique collection and has appeared on television shows including the “Tonight Show” featuring Johnny Carson. Bannister hopes that someone or some company will buy the museum and display it somewhere.

After Mussolini was executed, his body was strung up before being brought to the hospital for autopsy and eventually returned to the family members. So, when an eBay auction started for the brain and some blood samples of the deceased dictator, it was entirely possible that the remains (which started at around $22,000) were authentic. Fortunately, eBay has a policy of not allowing these sorts of things, so the auction was canceled a few hours in, before his granddaughter had even heard about the auction.

Kevin Pereira of G4′s Attack of the Show solicited contributors to a Keyboard Cat-themed art show and auction. Proceeds will go to the no-kill cat rescue shelter Kitten Rescue in Los Angeles:
In July, G4 sponsored an art competition, asking amateurs and pros alike to come up with their best masterpiece based on Fatso and his song. After selecting 18 winners, the network turned the works over to Kitten Rescue, who’s auctioning them on eBay this month to raise money for their animal rescue efforts. Ranging from New Yorker-inspired covers to Warhol-esque shots, the works of art are definitely unique – and adorable!
Or perhaps this toy is inspired by Voltron, rather than the Transformers. Either way, when the island’s railways are threatened, Thomas and his friends unite to form a devastating weapon. I don’t know who makes this toy, but it’s on sale at eBay in Singaporean currency.
Movie fans everywhere should appreciate this once in a life time eBay opportunity -the chance to buy the original Ecto-1 ambulance from the Ghostbusters films. The auction’s over now, but how many of you actually had $45,000 anyway? Personally, I wish I did.

We’ve seen many strange things for sale on eBay (our pal Urlesque blog even has a regular feature called Today in eBay about the strangest things sold on the popular auction site), but this one is really, really weird: drool.
The seller [of a China's equivalent of eBay] claimed the saliva was a ‘tonic’ and was asking the equivalent of £2 a small bottle, reports Hunan Online. Listings for the bottles included pictures of the 18-year-old girls the saliva was supposedly taken from. [...]
"The drool was all collected from 18-year-old pretty girls when they were sleeping. And buyers can pay later after they certified the authenticity of this product," he said.
