Ty Mattson constructed an alternate show intro for the Showtime series Dexter that is reminiscent of Saul Bass’ movie titles from the ’60s. Groovy! The video is based on a series of posters Mattson created, which you can see at his site. Link -Thanks, Ty!

Here’s an idea for your next dinner party: a Dexter-themed dining room by designer Amy Lau:
Amy Lau has captured, tongue-in-cheek, the essence of Dexter, the Miami P.D. blood-splatter expert by day/vigilante serial killer by night. Naturally, the room flows red, illustrating the impact of a single hue added to a neutral setting. Patterns range from blood drops and human vein honeycombs to 3D string art , artfully strung from ceilings to walls, simulating Dexter’s crime scene forensic technique. A vinyl-wrapped table and ceiling and plastic-sheathed floor recall the protective plastic the character obsessively uses to protect against splatters when killing.
If you’re not familiar with the television show Dexter, this parody by the comedy company Landline TV will bring you up to speed in about a minute. Summing up the character Debra Morgan with the verbal statement “swear word” was an inspired touch.

If you like the Showtime series Dexter, you’ll get a kick out of these posters by Mattson Creative:
Mattson Creative has taken pen (or mouse more likely) to paper and designed posters to commemorate each iconic season of everyone’s favorite serialized serial killer odyssey Dexter. Even though there is no nude John Lithgow for season 4 (thank God), Showtime liked them so much that they’re going to start selling them on their website.
Update 10/21/10: You can buy the posters at the Showtime website – Thanks Ty!

We go from cute to downright gruesome. This here is a post by Miss Cellania about furniture and accessories that will make your house into a bloody crime scene over at our pal mental_floss blog that makes me slightly afraid of her. Okay, a lot afraid of her
This one above is the Dexter dining room chairs:
Designer Amy Lau was inspired by the serial killer show on Showtime when she came up with these Dexter dining room chairs. The chairs are decorated with embroidered blood spatters. There are also bloody dinner plates and disfigured flatware to match, available from Spring Design.
(Yes, astute readers will notice that Amy Lau’s blood spattered design was on Neatorama before)
Craftster user Lethargic made these back in October for the season premiere of Dexter, but other clever Craftsters immediately came up with lots of other uses for them (divorce party). The actual cake is red velvet (my favorite, yum) with butter cream icing tinted to look like a skin tone, and the little knives are made out of piped white chocolate. Genius.
And Crafter member Choleblack made these simple yet brilliant cupcakes for Halloween. You could also use them for a Twilight party (not my thing, but have at it if it’s yours) or a True Blood premiere party. Or just for fun if you’re kind of creepy like me.
