Craftster user Montyfull was a fashion major and a gamer, and so naturally combined the two interests with evening wear inspired by the video game Super Mario Bros. The above sequin dress took eighty hours of work and features a NES controller as a garter. There more pictures at the link, including a mushroom dress and a bob-omb dress.

Legend of Zelda Baby Outfit

Posted by John Farrier in Art, Toys on August 5, 2009 at 7:40 am

Craftster user UpKnitCreek created this Legend of Zelda-inspired Link outfit for a friend’s baby shower. For authenticity, she (he?) even put leather soles on the booties and wrapped the whole thing in a wooden chest that looks like one from the game. More pictures at the link.

Super Mario Raccoon Rug

Posted by John Farrier in Art, Toys on July 25, 2009 at 4:49 pm

Craftster member enemyairship created this 7 by 7 foot rug of Mario in raccoon form:

He’s made of 386 granny squares, each one representing 1 pixel (3.5″ each) that makes up Raccoon Mario. I learned to crochet in February by watching youtube videos and recently watched another video for granny squares and got started on this project right away. I had originally thought that it would take me over 1 month to complete if I made about 10 granny squares per day.

Russian Lit Greats… in Gingerbread

Posted by Stacy in Book & Literature, Food & Drink on March 28, 2009 at 10:56 am

Wow. My gingerbread decorations = two blobs for eyes and a curved line for a smile. Talented Craftster Woolylogic made detailed likenesses of Russian literature greats. And they’re good. That’s Dostoyevsky in the picture; click the link for cookie versions of Turgenev, Tolstoy and Gogol.

Handmade Coraline Doll

I figured it was only a matter of time before little Coralines started popping up on the craft sites. Craftster purplekappa made this one for her daughter, and I must say, it’s pretty perfect. She even comes with Wybie’s cat and her very own button key.
