21 Tons of Mustard and Ketchup

Thieves in Vienna, Austria made off with 21 tons of mustard and ketchup.

The loot was in a semitrailer parked in a lot over the weekend northwest of Vienna. Police say the truck driver showed up Monday to deliver his cargo only to see the trailer missing.

Police assume the thieves were more interested in the trailer than its contents.

Authorities are on the lookout for the missing mustard as well as the $22,000 trailer. Link -via J-Walk Blog

Bacon Mayonnaise?

Posted by Stacy in Food & Drink on February 23, 2009 at 7:16 pm

…Bayo, perhaps? Whatever it’s called, Ryan Farr from Best by Farr (this is his picture, by the way) has whipped up a batch of either the most wonderful or most evil culinary creation ever. He cooked up some bacon fat and then rendered until all of the fat was clarified. Then he strained and separated the fat and used it to make mayonnaise – bacon-flavored mayonnaise. What do you think?

Table of Condiments

Posted by Stacy in Food & Drink on January 18, 2009 at 6:56 pm

If you’re anything like me, you can open your fridge and immediately find several condiments you haven’t used in months… maybe even years. I know we have a bottle of soy sauce lurking in ours that’s probably from, oh, 2007. According to the Table of Condiments That Periodically Go Bad, that Kikkoman needs to be tossed immediately. Cheez Wiz, however, has an indefinite shelf life. Scary. If you’re wondering about some of your condiments, check it out – it has a total of 75, so the odds are pretty good that you’ll find your answer.
