Darren Hayes shares the story of a truly memorable Christmas from his childhood. He grew up to form half the musical duo Savage Garden. The song is the instrumental version of “Bloodstained Heart” from his latest album Secret Codes and Battleships. Link -via Laughing Squid
Today I learned that John Farrier once made a peanut butter and hair sandwich because his mom said hair was made of protein. That’s just one more reason you should be perusing NeatoBambino every day. All he was doing was highlighting a post about an artist who illustrates children’s misconceptions, but I don’t think I’m ever going to let him live that one down. If you have a childhood story to top that, we’d love to hear it! Link

From the folks who brought us Growing Up Heroes comes another nostalgia blog, this one dedicated to Halloween. You are invited to submit photographs of your childhood Halloween costumes, and enjoy pictures of trick-or-treat long ago. Personally, I don’t see this adorable Ewok from 1985 as “long ago”, but there are pictures from different eras as well. Link

Did you hear the story about how Allie tried to learn how to ride a bike? She was deathly afraid of the contraption, and for good reason, which you can read about at Hyperbole and a Half. Link
Maybe it’s just a childhood fascination, but I adore hedge mazes. After fun Halloween corn mazes and the movie Labyrinth, who wouldn’t? WebEcoist has a great collection of mazes for your viewing enjoyment. Enjoy!
