If you remember the Cadbury ad campaign of 2007, then consider this a parody. If you don’t, well then it’s Chewbacca playing a Phil Collins song on drums, which is awesome enough, right? -Thanks, Nick!
The Darth Vader burger is black, so it makes sense that the Chewbacca burger is hairy. It may be unpleasant to eat, but it’s important that we stick to a faithful presentation of the Star Wars franchise.

Radiant beams from thy hairy face

It loses a bit in the translation, but Chewie sings the carol rather well.

These character interpretations, pictured above Cringer and Battle Cat from He-Man, Chewbacca, and Splinter from the Ninja Turtles, are not only creative in terms of design, they also look super cuddly!
Made from felted fabric by Justin Alan Volpe, these figures have a cartoony style that rarely comes across properly in soft sculpts. I hope he mass produces these figures some day, I want them all!

Well, the good news is that this isn’t one of those dolls that pees. Though “I changed Chewbacca’s diaper” would make a great t-shirt, it’s probably not a good experience.
eBay seller eyelovelucy makes realistic (as in semi-human looking) Han, Leia, Luke, and Chewy dolls. You need them to round out your action figure collection.

If your team is going to have a mascot, it has to be one that connects with people. That’s why there was a movement by Ole Miss to adopt Admiral Ackbar. ‘Cause when you think of Mississippi, you naturally think of the Admiral. It’s a common association.
And that brings us to hockey. What creatures to you associate with hockey? Wookiees, of course! So the Port Huron hockey team The Fighting (Millennium) Falcons adopted Chewbacca as its mascot for one night.

Get it? Chewbacca from Star Wars rendered in chewing tobacco. It was made by the marvelously inventive Terry Border of Bent Objects. If you like his work, be sure to read the interview that he gave with Alex.
I don’t know about you guys, but I would certainly want to go see this. For more funny Star Wars mash up posters, check out the Geeks Are Sexy article at the link.
Normally I find Wookiees to be too gamey for my taste. Like harsh venison. But this Chewburger by Charlton Yu looks mild enough.

Sure Leia was always flirting with Han, but it was easy to see her eyes shooting longing looks of love over to Chewbacca, so it’s not all that surprising to see photographic evidence of their affair being made public all these years later.
As if you needed another reason to love Harrison Ford, he recently used an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live to remind us that he has a pretty sweet sense of humor.

Last Sunday, the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus – thereafter referred to as the best krewe EVAR – made its debut in New Orleans. Here’s how they described themselves:
The Krewe of Chewbacchus is a Carnival Krewe for the most revelrous of Star Wars Freaks, Trekkies, Whovians, Mega-Geeks, Circuit Benders, Cryptozooligists, UFO Conspiracy Theorists, Mad Scientists, and all the rest of Super Nerdom.
We are Bacchanalian Revelry + Sci Fi = BacchanALIENS.
[...] The Chewbacchus parade includes a fleet of UFlambOs, a Bar2D2 float pulled by an X-Wing Fighter bicycle, giant BacchanALIEN and Robot puppets, a 20 ft long Quetzalcoatl Space Dragon, and much much more…

We looked at some of the influences George Lucas used to create Star Wars earlier today, but there many parts of the Star Wars universe yet to be explored. Michael Heilemann took an in-depth look at the origins and influences that inspired one particular character we all know and love: Chewbacca.
Unfortunately, perhaps because of the verisimilitude of the disciplines needed to make a film like Star Wars come together, the making-of narrative is surprisingly fragmented and often incomplete. A quick look at the bibliography needed to put together this post should give a good idea of just how fragmented. And once you’re down the rabbit hole, you quickly learn that nothing found there can be taken at face value. Quotes, drawings, photos and diagrams lack sources, are undated, some old, some new, some so distorted as to be pure fiction and most of it entirely out of context.
Heilemann’s research is quite thorough, and fascinating as well. Link (via Boing Boing)

Interbent blog has a fantastic collection of street art inspired by Star Wars. This one above, a fictional lost dog flier, is surely a performance piece in Venice, California.

Oh, art! My day would certainly be much more dreary without performance art like this: In 2005, Marlene Haring donned a Chewbacca-worthy suit of hair and went crawling around Vienna’s "Second District" (the city’s red light district), much to the delight of passer-bys:
The long-blond-haired creature sleeping on the pavement at the street-corner rendezvous outside the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts did not greet the more-or-less informed audience, but set off at surprising speed on all fours into the park. The assorted audience followed as the creature made its way through the greenery towards the Prater (Vienna’s permanent fun-fair), past Autodrome, Space Shot, Ghost Train and Casino Admiral, emerging on Austellungsstrasse (Exhibition Road) and crossing into the neighbourhood known as the Stuwerviertel, where Marlene Haring lives.
Then it started to get weird: Link
If your Halloween costume is anywhere near as clever as this one, or you’ve finally decided on Chewie as your go-to outfit, be sure to top it off with the authentic roar, as taught here.
